Taka taking control!

Options
:hello: Right... time for another attempt at this diary malarkey!

I've been on MSE for a few years now and am finally in the posistion to try to make proper inroads into paying off my mortgage. :j

My mortgage is currently due to end at the end of 2027 but I'd love to be MF by Aug 2019. This would have been when my 1st ever mortgage ended so it'd be great to manage it by then. :D

Targets
2010 target to OP = £2000
OPs 2010 YTD =£ 803.94

MFIT2 target = reduce mortgage to £33,500 by 12/12/12

Balance as of 09/05/10 = £43,330.28 :D

:coffee: << for anyone who has read this far!
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

    Hi Taka,

Your entry in post #1 of the MFiT-T2 challenge is currently linking to your "old" diary. Do you want it linked to this instead?

    Thanks,

Well technically I did have a MFW diary before... I just didn't really post on it so it is really out of date and non relevant now! :o I promise to do better this time!

Thanks for the good luck wishes - I think I'll need it... 1st major hurdle will be whether I still have a job or not after next summer when my job funding runs out.

    Yes please FB! :D

Hmmmmm update time I think! :rotfl:

My mortgage is now £42,840.48 as of yesterday. :j I managed to sneak an OP of £223.52 in at the very end of May and my regular OP of £100 hit my account yesterday so bye bye the £43ks (as long as I OP another £27 ish this month so the interest doesn't take me over it again.) :D

I think I'm going to up my OPs to £200/month which would hopefully put me a wee bit ahead of my MFiT2 target (need to OP ~£166 per month to be on target)

All sorts of money draining plans seem to be afoot so I don't think I can OP more...

    Driving
I'd quite like to learn to drive (Yep I'm 34 and have never learnt :o) Edinburgh has very good public transport! Minimum of £100/month, quite possibly more. I'm not sure it'd be worth getting a car if I manage to pass (parking at work is almost impossible and parking is hellish nearby so it'd be just as quick getting the bus!) There is a car club car nearby I could hire relatively cheaply if I needed a car... Being able to drive may give me more options if I need to get another job next summer (when my funding runs out).

    Fitness
I'm trying to loose weight and get fitter. While its nice weather I'm walking loads but that nice weather will never last... I need to find some indoor exercise too ( NO, not that... :rotfl:). I need to find money to do some classes, join a gym or go ice skating! Lets say ~£45/month

    Flat
Its a money pit that needs everything done... How long is a piece of string ££££ :p

    Holiday
As a end goal for my weight loss I want to trek the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. Its going to take well over a year to loose the weight I need to loose (probably closer to 2 years as it is a LOT :o). I'd love to be at my target weight in time to go to Peru in ~May 2012... I just need to find ~£3500 as I want to go for the best part of a month... Current Peru savings = £0 :rotfl: I need to raise just over £5 a day which sounds far less scary... ( Hang on... £5 a day for 2 years )

Now, where is that lottery ticket? :rotfl:

    Thanks for the update.

My OH started learning to drive when he was 34, after I nagged him to get it over and done with (he's 39 now).
We had a few domestics  when I gave him a few starter lessons in my car.
So I soon signed him up for lessons with an instructor, so that domestic bliss could be restored.

Oooh, Machu Picchu is on my list of places to go too... though until my finances improve it's out of the question alas... Good luck with your weight loss!
