Tesco free Carrier Bags - grrrrrr

Anybody else noticed that if you use Tesco free carrier bags they ladder and break so easily!!!

Even if you spread your shopping evenly over many bags your shopping still ends up on the pavement!!!!

In contrast "Morrisons" free bags are very durable.

'YES' you could remember your own bags or buy more durable ones BUT why Tesco gives out such feeble bags???

Tesco changed the bags a few months ago they are definately not as strong as they used to be and seem a bit thinner to me

Girl on the checkout's comment when giving us some out was "blimey have they changed the plastic on these, this ones seem really thin." Don't often use them, but do on occasions "forget" our reusables to restock the carrier bag holder for bin liners etc.

I am sick and tired of being asked "Would you like a bag" - No mate, i was thinking of just putting a weeks shopping in my pocket.

What happened to the good old days of bags just being there!

I know even when you ask for some bags and you have a trolley full of shopping they give you about 2 and you have to keep asking

I get my shopping delivered from tesco and opt for no bags but when I have a lot of smaller items or a substitute item they bag them up. I have noticed that lately the bags aren't lasting from my front door to my kitchen I always reuse carrier bags when I can but the ones from tesco aren't reusable at all and end up straight into the recycle bag.

Yer many supermarkets hold on to the bags as if they are gold-dust!! You have to almost beg for enough to get your grocery home!!!!

It was quite funny as where my bags gave up there were other peoples (where they gave up the ghost) blowing around on the pavement!!!

Tesco carrier bags are now biodegradable (previous ones weren't fully), hence the reason they feel a bit thinner and slightly different.

It may well be a bit of gentle encouragement to get us to use reusable carrier bags/jute bags if the free carrier bags are naff.

Personally, I don't think there's any need for free carrier bags - the majority of them only end up in landfill because people are too lazy to either (a) use reusable bags (b) take free carrier bags back to the store for recycling.

I reckon they should either be withdrawn completely or a minimum charge of 10p levied per bag.

I've noticed that they are much thinner, they split very easily now, and 2l bottles of coke, for instance, have to be double bagged otherwise they split almost straight away.

I do normally take my own bags shopping with me, but if I pop into my local tesco express on the way home from work, I don't always have my own.

I re-use mine for disposing of kitty-litter or small amounts of garbage. If I had to pay or remember my stronger bags I'd still be using pedal bin bags etc. as previously described!!!

Sometimes you want a small bag to wrap meat or fish away from your other shopping.

What a load of rubbish.

You pay your 10pence, im happy getting them free and doubling them up when i get a few beers.
