Not a Zetec, that's a Style, a base model....0

Well, thats a demonstration of why its important to check outside the box as it where to find out the cheapest price elsewhere. You were extremely lucky to find to very nearly new cars outside of the dealer network? Where was it?
Just checked there on autotrader and cheapest used 2010 passat of the same trim as mine nationally is £15995.... so well pleased with my deal.
Haven't found the bluemotion, but our local car warehouse has a couple of 59 plate highlines for £15k, with about 8k miles on, so if you say they are £1 to £3.5k more expensive than a bluemotion on list price, it makes a fair saving for against new. (particuarly if all I'm going to do is fill it full of rubbish)0 -

True, though that would make them 2009 registered cars, would it not? Not 2010 registered cars.
TBH, there are loads of ex rental / ex loan cars around at non franchised dealers. I happened to fall in with this car brand new at what was an extremely competitive price at the time and got it registered 2010 (with the dealer paying the extra 2.5% VAT as well) PLUS the econmy is just incredible compared to the 'standard' engine - last fill i got 1000 miles out of a tank of fuel, which worked out at around 65mpg. Brilliant for such a big car.
I didnt like the idea of a car having previously been raked around the country by 50 drivers who didnt really care about it, so it worked out perfectly for me that i got a brand new 2010 car for around the price of a 2009 registered 'demo'0 -
Beggars can't be choosers I'm afraid :rotfl:

You haven't seen the state of my car then.
(if you get a decent ex single owner lease rather than ex hire it's a better bargain as well, but it's a bit hit and miss if you're not careful)0 -

True, and if its a lease car then the driver will have just chucked it in for any work it needs with no expense spared.
My passat doesnt lead a cosseted life either - its only been washed four times since i got it nearly 6000 miles ago (and three of those were by the dealer). Its just a big workhorse for us.0 -
Renewal quote from Diamond was £335.15
Last year's price was £316.25
Best I could find (other than Hastings with Quidco which did not appeal as it is not guaranteed and I'd not heard good things about Hastings) was £291.05 with Elephant
Rang Diamond on 0800 118 1163 and after cross checking the quote were happy to match the Elephant quote as it was their sister company.
Happy enough with that as I've found Diamond good in the past. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
