You'll have to trawl the web for a car supermarket somewhere thats got the car you want at the price you want to pay...don't try to take your present car in for part ex though...if their Fiesta is a grand cheaper expect your trade in price to reflect this.
Thanks - Can I ask why you think the extras Gap and Diamondbrite are waste of money? I was undecided re DB .
In terms of Gap does anyone know a well known company that does this?0 -
In my case, I couldn't bear to pay more for a nearly new car than a brand new one!
You should have looked round more. If you got 20% off list for new, you could easily have got 40% off a nearly new one. I would hate to lose another 20% driving out of the showroom. I've gone on to run it into the ground, as I did the one before though, it gets used as the company van, all the kids trample through it, so the residual value isn't going to be much, so in my case I don't need new.0 -

No, thats not the case. Trust me, I always do my research to the full! I was originally looking at buying nearly new. What changed my mind was realising most were around the same price as new due to the great deals on. there was little movement on nearly new price, and i wasnt the only one finding the same.0 -

As i said previously, use autotrader online to check the cheapest one in the country, then quote that - then there is no need to BS.0 -
Thanks
Hmmmm - No neogotiations on the price although I said my lowest price they didnt come back with a different price to neogotiate
you need an actual figure and an actual car that is cheaper to compare to. Why else would they bother?
I have a figure for part exchange
I asked so many times re the price of the actual car rather than monthly figures, finally I got it and realised the discount was off the extras and not the car..
There are companies who fit parking sensors for around £150 all in. Dont go for dealer GAP insurance its far too expensive - you can get the same online for about £130. Dont go for the diamond polish / gloss / seal, you can buy the same product off ebay for about £30.
They said they would discount the APR, however I have not had a figure of what the total payment would be...
They have to legally provide you with the APR figure.
The manager even came out to speak to me and said I wouldnt find it cheaper elsewhere.. I said that i'm sure I would.. (I haven't yet LOL)
Well hes not going to come out and tell you otherwise is he?
Whats the exact details of the car - price, model, no of doors, mileage, year, plate, colour, etc?0 -

The showroom shiney stuff of whatever name will cost anywhere 'tween £200 and 300 for whats basically a hard wax coat...that will buy you an awful lot of good quality wax polish enough for a lifetime.
GAP is a rip off at dealers too, you'll likely get same cover via searching t'internet (and asking round) for a third of the price.0 -

I bought a new Passat Bluemotion (list price £20K) for £15650 and got it registered 2010, when the same dealer was asking £15995 for 3 month old ex courtesy 2009 ones.0 -

I agree, this is important and goes back to what I was saying about doing your research first. If you can give a real figure that you know to be achievable, and an actual example then not only does it make them realise they need to work harder to get your business, but it also makes you more of a serious buyer and so they know that it would be worth them making the effort.0 -
I also agree with the comments about GAP - don't buy from the dealership. It's so overpriced, that they'll comfortably be able to "offer" you a deal on the cost of it making you *think* you've got a good deal when in fact it's still overpriced.
I bought mine online through ala.co.uk (with cashback through Quidco) - the other main site I know of is click4gap.co.uk which was slightly more expensive. But these can be about 3-4x cheaper than a dealers price.0 -

+1 again.
Bought new Hilux in 2007 2 weeks before Clackson did the North Pole trip (i don't usually get things like this right, 2 weeks later i'd have got no deal) for about a grand less than i could get a used one, and that from a Toyota dealer.0
