Orange are not recording my payments!!!

Fantasy00
Fantasy00 Posts: 42 Forumite
I have a mobile contract with Orange, since September 09...

They only started recording the payment history on my credit file & they said they cannot add the history from September...

I mean, that's the whole point of paying by direct debit every month- to increase your credit rating. But it's no point if it's not recording.

Can anyone advise on what i can do to recitify this?

Thanks,
Ash.:(

I thought the point of direct debit was to make sure you didnt forget to pay, not to increase your credit rating

Reporting to credit agencies is optional, they do not have to report.

DD is just a means of payment, nothing to do with your credit file. A DD is collected by the the business not paid by yourself, so similar to a SO expect you pick how much is paid.
If you paid manually at the end of the month it would achieve the same result.

You are entirely missing the point! I said that paying by direct debit every month, increases your credit rating (and of course it's an easy payment method), but how CAN YOU improve your rating if there isn't any payment history on your credit report. In my case, Orange (Mobile contract) are not recording the payments with the CRA. I don't know how else I can upper my rating.

Why have you posted the same question multiple times in about 3 threads (at last count I made) ?

I posted some suggestions in this thread

No it doesn't, direct debits have no affect on your rating what so ever, since paying by DD is not recorded on your file.

The only thing that matters is if you pay on time, how much you have currently borrowed and how much credit is available and unused, and again as above recording credit history is optional!
As OneADay has pointed out already each creditor scores you differently anyway.

Never heard that before, not from anyone. And i sepnd along time on the debt forums helping out, lots of credit record info their and this has never come up.
Payment type is not recorded on your file, so has no affect.
Look at your file, show us where it says you pay by direct debit?

All that matters is the info in the guides i posted.

Absolute nonsense. As stated above, the only thing that affects your credit rating is payments being made on time or late and arears. Granted, using direct debit means you have less chance of missing as it's automated but, in no way is it connected to your rating.

    I've never heard of it.

The only thing it does do is perhaps knock a few quid off the annual bill.
