Corrected your post,as it was only partially correct and missed very important information - which may otherwise confuse people.

A bit late maybe, but I just asked my OH who is a MOT tester and he says that it should pass.0

Says alot about Fiat - but we are not discussing bad design.
MOT is about safety too.
merely an example, of how a seat being unable to tilt to allow access wasn't an MoT issue.
Mot's are not about 'what if' ......that remains entirely up to the driver, with regards to apparent 'safety' .......No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies, I have decided to get a new car as the engine is playing up again.0

I think it will fail the MOT. I mean the logic is - if a passengers find a way to get in they should have the ability to get out QUICKLY in a case of fire or accident.0

So what will happen when the new mini clubman estates go for their first MOT? Or other cars with only 1 rear door? The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Nothing. You don't need any doors to pass an MoT, but if they are there they need to open and close properly.
The design of that car is stupid, verging on the irresponsible. It actually encourages rear seat passengers to exit onto the the road.0 -

And I don't mean just the mis spacing etc., but if the post code is missing - fail... and the police will nick you too.
That'll be interesting for plates produced before the rule change then! Assuming an older vehicle - how would the MOT tester know that the plates were produced after the rule change? :cool:Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -

There are a couple of cars with one rear passenger door and they all have it on the driver side, the others are van derived though. So as you rightly point out they encourage passengers to exit into the road. Unfortunately us and Ireland are the odd ones out in the European market so the manufacturers (in the case of the car above BMW) have given consumers a like it or lump it choice. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head.
