Sat/Sun 8th/9th May - What small DFW things have you done today???!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important
Hi everyone
Up early again this weekend. Was looking forward to a nice long lie but I was looking at wedding things until really late last night and woke up thinking about what I need to do/buy etc so thought I really should get up and look into them. I can always go back to bed...right?! It is Saturday after all...:D
This weekend I'm going to:
- Go to the cinema with the £1 ticket from last week's email. Think I'll take my own popcorn.:money:
- Spruce round! Flylady is my icon!
- Look into getting my winter duvet laundered
- Meal plan!!!! And organise a big food shop (or as big as the joint a/c says we can...)
- Wedding plan!!!
:D:D
I also really need to look into budgeting for the rest of the year
Had a momentary panic when I heard peeps talking about getting Crimbo pressies for their stash. Last year at this time I'd definitely started saving a bit towards this, but this year I've really been putting every little spare penny towards my cc. Original thinking was that come October/November I won't have wedding expenses so that'll cover it, but feeling slightly nervous about waiting that long. Will need to see what else is coming up in between and figure out a plan.
Take care everyone. Hope you have lovely weekends and do well with all your small things.
xx

Morning all
La E - I hope you're planning went well - we've a stash of chrimbo stuff - but not much this year - my kids to alternate xmases so we only do them every second year when they are home - but like you I'd done more before this time last year! Thanks for the reminder
Ald - take the money as cash when you shop - can you look in cupboards and meal plan before you go - make a list and then you'll more likely stick to it! Goodluck!
Today excuse my list its a nice day and I've lots to do
Go and pick up freecycle table at 10am
Check banks
Move some money about
Repot some tomatoes
Pinch out tomato shoots
Think about perennial seeds to plant in greenhouse at old house
Sort out veggie garden at old house and do some strimming
Find a colour of felt pen which works with mending the scratch on the dining room floor (!)
Text OH later and see how he gets on
Put the feet on the big box for the games and put the games away
Do a bit of work as I'm getting stressed about it
Build a shelf in the living room to see if we can make a window seat frame and price up some wood once its done
Tidy up my old bedroom - its got to the bin bags in one hand - big stick in the other hand stage!
Go and walk on a beach and enjoy the weather!
Do some meal planning (which I hate) and sort food for the week to save time later in the week.
Move peppers upstairs where its warmer
Sort out window sills to make room for more plants
Look out wood to make a veggie garden at the house here
Check ebay/amazon
List more ebay things later
Ok enough nonsense from me - I hope you're all good

Morning ladies...I am working today and it's going to be a quiet one so expect regular updates from me today! :rotfl: Wow I'm the only one in the dealership and it's lovely and quiet! Will savour this until the salesmen get in.
Today I must:-
- Do 1x HC
- Sort clean and dry HC
- Keep house sort of clean
- Do dollshouse roof with DM. Nearly there!
- Clear all rubbish from DSD's room, why must men remove new clothes from packaging and not throw the rubbish away?! Although I will save the shoe box and tissue paper... :money:
- Print WIP list and go through it sensibly if it's going to be quiet
And DFW:-
- [STRIKE]Put in weekly fuel and use £10 Mr T's voucher from valued opinions[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Transfer £10 saved from my fuel account to my spends account to make things look more healthy[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Update banking/spreadsheet with any new totals.[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Check credit report for change[/STRIKE]
- Try and fill out snowballer accurately and SAVE IT THIS TIME!
- Stop in at Homebase and buy ANOTHER lock barrell as I have managed to superglue my new one. Get one with 4x keys this time instead of just 2, one for neighbour, one for me, one for OH and one for DM.
- Speak to friend about Cholderton Charlie's tomorrow, should go in one car and will take picnic!
- 2x ebay items ending today, the rest tomorrow, will keep an eye today
That's enough to be getting on with!
JxNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -
Morning all! Up early too - I'm another one that can't lie in bed whilst things are going around in my head!
Got a phone call last night offering me a job at the superduper 6th form college I interviewed at on Thursday BUT its only 3 days (maybe 4 days) a week. I'm very disappointed but chuffed at the same time as it's my dream job but I just can't afford not working fulltime at the moment. OH and I sat down and went through everything last night and it's not really a viable option unfortunately. Booo!
Have another interview on Thursday so all is not lost and I'm still applying for others so onwards and upwards -although itdoesn't feel like that at the moment!
Anyway, there's a lot to do today so....- Walk dog for free exercise (it's really cold outside)
- Go and have hair cut and coloured at 11am
- Go to London this afternoon (4 hour drive lovely) this afternoon ready for a christening tomorrow (staying in a hotel but OH is paying)
- Buy a present bag this morning
- Go to Boots and spend gift voucher and No 7 voucher on toiletry essentials to help keep the grocery shops down this month
- Do another job app
- Iron jeans and pack ready for going away
- OH to drop off doggy at kennels for the weekend
- Phone mum with free minutes
- Put dry washing away
- Refine shopping list I've done for Monday
- Go out for tea with parents of baby for christening
January grocery spending - £82.73/ £1200 -
Congratulations Rachel, hopefully it has helped with your confidence a bit, even though it wasn't exactly what you wanted!
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -

Rachel is there anyway you can work at the 6th form college if you do extra classes after/clubs etc - maybe if you talk to them and tell them you'd love it but need more hours they might offer somethign which you can take - they're clearly impressed with you - well done. xx
DNM - did you ever sort your seedlings? Well done on the bargainous hoover.
Littlekel - why is it that the gross stuff always lasts longer than the stuff we love?
Second cuppa here then must attack the compost covered carpet with the peedie hoover - we've two hoovers - which isnt anything to be jealous about - we've all got long hair and a hairy mutt - oh yeah and the mud and the compost and the sand - so its just very sad how much hoovering is often required to get slightly above squallor here!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
