Can I have EddyH's ebay name so I can block him?
How about you give me your ebay user name and I'll promise not to buy off you as I'd be worried it wouldn't be as described given your reaction to my posts. I've been using ebay for many years and my feedback is several hundred and I've only ever left negative feedback twice, both times were for something described as genuine but I received fakes.0 -

Maybe it was scratched in the post?
Unfortunately not, the DVD was in its case and he said the CD itself had scratches on it. Im not denying that it wasn't scratched as it had very slight surface scratches but then the DVD was from 99 and used! but I think he wanted it to be prestine, although I don't believe it was as severley scratched as he has described...but as I like to think myself to be an honest seller, and if my customers aren't 100% happy I offer full refunds and return postage. But as you can see from my post he refuses to return due to its value!Credit Cards at 25/12/2017: £1297.36/17,936.78

Thats stupid sounds like he's just trying to get a freebie, i agree with everyone in this post, just leave a calm feed back explaining that you offered a refund and yes block him. I paid £1.somthing the other week for an item that broke within minuites of me having it but to be honest it was so cheap what did i expect, I left him netural feedback as it was quickly sent and well packged but just the item was faulty.
To be honest if id read through his reviews first i would have known better
Yes definately trying for a freebie! But won't work with me but stupidly as I am new to ebay as a seller I left feedback for buyers when they made payment as I never had a bad buyer before. But I have learnt by my mistake so only leave feedback once I know the transaction is complete!Credit Cards at 25/12/2017: £1297.36/17,936.78

I sell and buy on ebay as a private seller and in fairly low volumes. I agree with the buyer that your description is inaccurate. DVD players don't scratch discs during use unless the player is faulty. DVD's get scratched by incorrect handling and general neglect.
It could however also have been sctrached in the post, you need to put a piece of bubble wrap inside the case over the release tab otherwise the disc almost always pops out and ends up scratched.
Personally for a low cost item that was not as described I also wouldn't bother posting back and would just leave negative feedback. I don't see anything rude about what he has said going on your original post. I work full time and a visit to the post office usually means making a special trip on a Saturday.
Thanks for your post Eddie but unfortunately I would need to disagree, quite a lot of low priced DVD players do scratch DVDs and if like me and many people I know, use Playstations and X-boxes to watch DVDs which do nion always scratch discs...
Also with the DVDs I sold on eBay I found that the limit for p&p you can charge is £1.00 and nearly all the items weighed over 0.1kg so was 96p just for postage so for envelopes, printing postage and including the bubblewrap you mention would cost much more than 4p per item so for my own pockets sake I wouldn't go to all this trouble for packaging, although the dvds were sent out in a bubbled envelope. But you say that it could be damaged in transit from the dvd bouncing around inside...if this is the case when new DVDs arrive in stores via transit why are the DVDs not scratched then?
eitherway I believe bad feedback should be left for people who refuse to refund, don't communicate, takes ages to dispatch etc. and not for someone who replies immediately and offers to pay all costs...
I definately do not believe I should receive bad feedback but if he isn't trually happy then yes sure neutral I would expect as I would do the same.
But some people don't realise that people do need good ratings as I am sure most people like me need this to be able to get extra financial help by selling items on the side, and for quite a lot of people who make a living by doing this, and to just give bad feedback willy nilly actually hurts people more than they think.
I think long and hard about whether if I feel I need to give bad feedback whether my reasons are genuine or whether its because i'm just annoyed I didn't get what I wanted.
people have to realise that unless stated as NEW there is going to be something wrong with the item whether its slight wear and tear, or damaged which people will state!
Any way thats my opinion, and you have yours but imagine if even 10% of the people who bought your items felt that because of the low priced items they bought of you wasn't worth the trip to the post office, or to even communicate to you before leaving bad feedback, just left bad feedback on your account it would stop a heck of alot of potential bidders on your items think twice about bidding on your items....That is the big picture, if they all thought like you and this man I am dealing with at the moment.Credit Cards at 25/12/2017: £1297.36/17,936.78

Precisely! Otherwise I would of listed the item 'used but as new'
Like I said I am new to eBay so didn't know what to list them as but looked at other posts and seemed good condition was the way to go, like as you put they aren't very good, excellent or like new.
And I agree I have bought lots of used games on eBay and would never expect the cases to be prestine without a mark or even the disc to be spotless, I would only complain if the game itself never worked properly.
If you want a game to be excellent I would personally bid an extra couple of quid on a new one! :jStill a lot less than in the stores!Credit Cards at 25/12/2017: £1297.36/17,936.78

As for Eddy ebay doesn't need buyers like that. A seller offers you a full refund on return plus pays the return costs and you still want to leave a neg because they want the item back and your to lazy to post it, Thats ridiculous and petty.0 -

Even a cheap DVD player shouldn't scratch discs.
All that's needed is a very small square of bubble wrap or even a folded piece of kitchen towel, this is standard practice when trading films on AVForums. DVD's delivered to stores in bulk are in big boxes so don't have pressure put on them. The reason the discs pop out when sending individual used discs in cases is the release tab is slightly looser from use and the tab gets released when the package is in the postbag etc.. and has lots of other stuff on top, this pushes the hard inside face of the case onto the tab. Therefore putting something soft inside between the tab and the opposite side of the case stops this. This is just a tip but if you think it's too expensive to implement then fair enough.0 -
That highlights the problem that 'good condition' is subjective, however 'light scratches' would have been much more explicit.
I would also expect a game disc to have had far more use than a film so I don't think a comparison between the two can be made.
I'm only giving my perspective as a buyer. I would not expect a DVD described as 'good condition' to be scratched, however if they were only light scratches I wouldn't go as far as leaving negative feedback myself.
I can honestly say when my partner gave me the DVDs from his friend (over 180 of them) I personally went through all of them, making sure firstly the discs were all there, they were not damaged, wern't badly scratched and un-playable, and I ended up pulling out around 27 of them that I wouldn't sell because I deemed them unsuitable to sell on for the reasons listed. So I know all were playable (checked) so when he said it was SEVERLY scratched I knew this wasn't true.
Yes there was light surface scratches on about 20% of the discs but none of them were deep, running over more than 5% of the playable surface nor did they ruin the content of the DVD hence my listing as good condition, so I don't believe my post was inaccurate at all.Credit Cards at 25/12/2017: £1297.36/17,936.78
