Need help with very rude buyer!

    i wouldnt give in for such a small amount, and he cant be bothered to return it, why should you be bothered to refund them? take the feedback, you can always put a note beside it as an earlier post has said.
    think of yourself as the shop, and them as a customer, if they had bought it from a shop and werent happy with it, they would have to return it for refund, (or exchange) the store wouldnt just say thats ok keep it and we we'll refund it to!
    you cant please all of the people all of the time!

    I sell and buy on ebay as a private seller and in fairly low volumes. I agree with the buyer that your description is inaccurate. DVD players don't scratch discs during use unless the player is faulty. DVD's get scratched by incorrect handling and general neglect.

    It could however also have been sctrached in the post, you need to put a piece of bubble wrap inside the case over the release tab otherwise the disc almost always pops out and ends up scratched.

    Personally for a low cost item that was not as described I also wouldn't bother posting back and would just leave negative feedback. I don't see anything rude about what he has said going on your original post. I work full time and a visit to the post office usually means making a special trip on a Saturday.

    Either that or the buyer is trying to get money back keeping the DVD. Had that happen to me a few times but fortunately haven't lost any money (yet)

    By reading the OP's post. They said they stated 'good condition' in the auction but have then admitted that it was scratched.

    Good, as in not very good, not excellent, not like new. Good might be fair enough description for usage scratches that don't affect the disc. I accept that in games I buy.

    That highlights the problem that 'good condition' is subjective, however 'light scratches' would have been much more explicit.

    I would also expect a game disc to have had far more use than a film so I don't think a comparison between the two can be made.

    I'm only giving my perspective as a buyer. I would not expect a DVD described as 'good condition' to be scratched, however if they were only light scratches I wouldn't go as far as leaving negative feedback myself.

    EddyH I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on what each description means to you as I personally think if it says like new (then I expect perfect condition), excellent (again to be like new), very good (surface/light scratches), good (as very good but with fingerprints, more scratches), acceptable (lots of scratches but perfectly playable/watchable) - if you use anything other than those I would think you to be a very snobbish buyer - you pay secondhand prices yet want perfection. If the buyer wanted perfect new condition he should have bought a new product not buy a used item (that is bound to have been played and in and out of its box/sleeve). I buy hundreds of CDs, DVDs and games every year and am not so stupid as to expect sellers to treat these items as preciously as I do when I buy brand spanking new. It's all in the interpretation and expectation of the buyer.

    I would interpret good condition to be an unmarked disc in a 'used' case. Anything other than an unmarked disc I would consider to be in less than good condition and should be specifically mentioned. I should point out I have never bought any DVD's, CD's, Games or similar from ebay, I have only ever bought my DVD's on AVForums where unless described otherwise discs have always been unmarked.

    I wouldn't refund him unless he returns the item. Also, one negative feedback is not going to put most sensible buyers off. It certainly wouldn't put me off, so don't sweat the small stuff :).
