Keep an eye on the place for a day then phone the RSPCA if nobody goes in there.
We always take our dogs with us, I couldn't leave them with anybody.
I went to South Afirca recently but hubby stayed at home because of them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

cat/ pet sitting seems to be a growing trend/ business these days so hopefully shes employed someone who does that, or a relative or friend ?
i have thought about using them myself but id be worried my cat would be scared of someone else coming into the house when were not there and run away because hes fairly timid anyway so i would continue to use catteries0 -
I couldn't imagine going on holiday without my dog. I'd miss him so much I wouldn't enjoy the holiday. Good job I prefer to holiday in the UK then!
I also have a part time cat. He lives in various houses in our road at different times of the day/week, depending on his mood. He was left behind by a neighbour who moved house, now we all look after him. Or should I say, he chooses who he will allow to look after him! Works out well when one of us goes on holiday though, he just moves on to the next house.0 -
Hi,
My dog goes to my parents whilst we're away, she's a rescue who didn't cope well in kennels so it would be unfair to put her back in that situation.
The 3 cats stay at home and my mum calls in to feed them, they have a cat flap.Proud to be dealing with my debts

Apart from the fact that if they get sick or injured there's no one to help them.
The person who comes in to feed them would notice if they were sick or injured, I'm sure.
I would rather leave them in familiar surroundings than take them to a cattery or someone else's house - that would be very stressful for my cat, as she has only ever known one house.0 -

When I go on holiday I usually have a dog sitter, but I've also used a dog walker who visits three times a day when I am away for short periods.
My cats and dogs are happy to be left in their own environment and get spoilt rotten by their carer!
Our dog is part of our family, he gets spoiled rotten AND he comes away with us, afterall it's his holiday too. I would not even contemplate a holiday without him.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Totally agree, ours always come as well.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I use a company called Barking Mad. A bit more expensive than kennels but my Dog goes to a home where she can live the same way she lives with me. I would highly recommend them. If possible they use the same home each time for your dog if there is availability.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

My three kitties go into a cattery. I'm not terribly friendly with my neighbours (and wouldn't ask non-cat owners to clean out litter trays anyway). The cattery I use is owned and run by an ex-vet nurse and I trust her to treat her guests properly. In my previous abode I was one of three neighbouring houses which had cats. We always made sure there there was someone around to do cat duty, and consulted each other before booking holidays, just in case.
I used to work with someone who when she was going away would just put her cat outside and assume that the cat would look after herself. I nearly blew a gaskit...
Anyone who goes away for a week and leaves his/her animals to their own devices needs a good kick up the jaxi - that really is beyond the realms of responsible pet ownership.0
