    For how long?
    .....

  • She might be having someone to come in to them several times a day, and feed them, walk the dog etc.. she may even have employed a live in pet sitter? If they are being left too long its unfair, but if their needs are met, they will be ok. My dog does with me, or goes to my dads... but rhen again, I very rarely go away!

Do you know who is going to feed and care for them?

When I go on holiday I usually have a dog sitter, but I've also used a dog walker who visits three times a day when I am away for short periods.

My cats and dogs are happy to be left in their own environment and get spoilt rotten by their carer!
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

doesnt seem right to me we go on uk breaks and take our dog with us. we have 5 snakes which stay at home as they get fed every 7-10 days so we get someone to come in and spot clean the tanks and give them fresh water.

I hope someone is feeding them as your be suprised the number of people who think nothing of going away for a few days and leaving bowls with enough food for the few days out and just clearing up the mess. Much cheaper than kennels. Even with someone going in for an hour twice a day to walk them and feed them it is still very cruel to leave pets on their own all day and night for a week.
I think most normal people either use kennels, friends/family/professional pet sitters to live in the house with them or take them in their own home or just take them along. Its very suprising when you look into how many hotels etc.. there are out there which will allow you to take pets.

Dogs maybe, can't see anything wrong with leaving cats on their own.

Depends how long I'm away for... if it's only a couple of days, I use automatic feeder things on a timer for the cats; if it's between 2 and 4 days, I ask friends to pop round a feed them and they usually stay for a couple hours as well so that the beasts have some company; anything longer than that and my friends are happy to basically move into my flat while I'm away :)

Apart from the fact that if they get sick or injured there's no one to help them.

My Daisy goes into Windmill Cat Hotel whenever I go away.Bit more expensive than your normal cattery but so much more worth it!
