i took my pc to pc world for repairs and it has been with them for about six weeks(can i complain about this?)
when i got it back this week i realised that they have been using it. i know this from the google page where you enter words that you want to search)
is legal for them to do this . some of the words are quite rude and extremely of sexual nature.
obviously i am not sure wether they accessed the actual pages. the only thing i can see is on the search page where they entered the words.
also if i complain can they deny it or is there a way i can proof this happened while the computer is at there premises. i used password on my computer and wonderiing also how they mannaged to overide this.
thanks guys. cant believe that they did this.

Isn't this how Mr Glitter was found out, he took his PC into PC World and they found some stuff and reported him. Maybe you should report this as well. Personally I would cause a right stink in the store and see what compensation they could offer you.

I think you should go straight to the top of Dixons Store Group and report the store in question. For all you know they may have downloaded kiddy !!!!!! onto your PC and how are YOU going to explain that to the police?
At the very least I would demand a brand new PC on which you can be sure there is no offensive, unpleasant or even illegal material.

Take the PC back, dump it on the CS desk, and immediately ask for the manager. He will get you sorted straight away, mention indecent search words, and maybe even pictures, and if nothing is done, then you will go to the police and let them look through the hard drive.

Let's get things into perspective. If (and I say if) the guys downloaded any images they have been extremely daft. I mean I work in IT - but even after my first day at work this was the first thing we were advised strongly not to do on a works machine (let alone a customers). However I still know guys who have a 'little look' now and again. However to say or imply that everybody who looks at 'adult material' download 'kiddy !!!!!!' is way off the mark. The guys who download kiddy !!!!!! (if you can call them that) are obscene and should be 'hung up'. However to say that you should demand a new pc is like saying your car got 'mud on it' whilst in for its MOT. A quick wash or in the case of a pc (the HD cleaning - 30 minutes) - it will be as good as new. A compliant to the local manager should be enough.
