pc world have been using my pc!!!!!!!!

i took my pc to pc world for repairs and it has been with them for about six weeks(can i complain about this?)
when i got it back this week i realised that they have been using it. i know this from the google page where you enter words that you want to search)
is legal for them to do this . some of the words are quite rude and extremely of sexual nature.
obviously i am not sure wether they accessed the actual pages. the only thing i can see is on the search page where they entered the words.
also if i complain can they deny it or is there a way i can proof this happened while the computer is at there premises. i used password on my computer and wonderiing also how they mannaged to overide this.

Not sure if this is the right forum for this. The techie forum may be of more help to you. But in a nutshell, you should be able to access your web-browser's history and that will show what was looked at whilst in PC World's care. They can and probably should use your computer whilst in their care just to check it's working. Looking up unsuitable things on the net via your computer is fair grounds for complaint. Especially as you can still see the evidence on your computer and may have caused offence/embaressment etc.

do a search with a wildcard for pictures

ie *.jpeg

might be files in the temp folders
very easy to prove.

I have heard of them doing it to lots of PC's

Have you checked the browser history? This may tell you which sites were visited when...

click on the History button on the Toolbar at the top of Internet explorer, unless its been deleted then the last 2-3 weeks of sites that were visited are there

thanks normal. it has been a quiet embarrasing to say the least. took me a while to explain to my family that it wasnt me. its extremely offensive words that they used.
i have no objections for them to use to check but its the language

You may want to check tto see if PC World have any T&Cs at their PC World Labs or whether they have a general code of conduct. If either, you could complain to HQ and perhaps get a PC Specialist to confirm this.

Complaints like this can damage PC World but if you can't prove anything or they don't have any code/T&Cs, then not much you can do. I'd probably still complain at their HQ, you may get some vouchers.

ccleaner from www.ccleaner.com will remove them

but make sureto make a copy of that index.dat file !!
