Hello peeps As you can see this is an early morning join-in by randomer! No booze last night only elderflower presse from the M&S offer.
Not sure about debt busting pledges but I'll have a think.
  • I love this idea of pledges, I'm off to work this morning and will have a think throughout the day about what to pledge. I will be back later with my list :)

Hi - can i please join in?

    My pledges are
Make a monthly meal plan and stick with it
Shop online for the meals every month. Add fruit/veg from the market and get friend to pick up extra milk for me when she nips out of work - no temptation and she's happy to. Make from scratch and freeze extras to save time. Use old-style tips for recipes.
Take lunches and snacks to work (no getting choccies from vending machine) - I like the flapjack idea so I'll use that. I will only go out for lunch once a month with colleagues
No buying books or magazines at all. I get audio books from the library to listen in the car - I don't mind paying for those as it funds a service I use.
No buying cosmetics, makeup, cleaning stuff, stationary until I've used all I have.
Have my hair cut at a training salon (have appointment booked).
Sell all the things i don't use, need, want or put them on Freegle.
    Grow some veggies.
Make some clothes - use up some of my fabric stores.

I think that will do. Some I have started, some I know I must do, as my house is full and my purse is empty.

I think this thread is a great idea.

I was thinking last night, we always had 8 empty wine bottles every 2 weeks in the recycling. i.e. 8x£5.00=at least 40 every 2 weeks. Works out at well over one thousand pounds on wine per year.Probably more like 1,500:mad:

    Pledge

Sort out new bank account and pay off O/D from other
Drink no more than one bottle wine per week
More healthy veg based meals and more fruit.
    Revisit the library
and lastly take a card (£3.50) which I didn't use back to the shop and ask for a refund!!:rotfl:
  • After lots of thought today I have decided to set myself some hopefully achievable pledges, here goes . . .

    I will
    • Only buy clothes for work.
    • Organise my wardrobe and ebay all the clothes I don’t wear.
    • Limit myself to £10 ‘pocket money’ per week for little items like milk / bread and not take my cards out with me so I can’t go over budget.
    • Treat myself to something nice every time I pay off 5% of my debt (such as a hair cut / nice meal out) – it will be 2014 before I’m debt free so I need something to keep me motivated!

    I will not
    • Get my eyebrows / nails done at the beautician - they look so much better when I get them done professionally but I have realised it’s luxuries like this that got me into debt in the first place!
    • Put anything else on credit.

    They look great guys!

Random - had you seen that La Escocesa has gone to boxes of wine rather than bottles to save even more money?

Josephine - at my local college you can get beauty treatments as well as haircuts by trainees . . . . or, go to night school and learn yourself, then maybe earn pocket money doing friends?
