I'd prefer it if most shops closed on Sundays, it would be a lot nicer as that's how I remember it. Peaceful and a day to see family or to spend with partner/going for a walk/doing something non-work related and properly being able to relax** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

I do it all because I'm scared.

I agree. It seems like there's no end to the week now, no real family time, time to recharge yourself.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

This is a stupid argument, (I know it's not yours), just because you don't celebrate xmas it doesn't mean you want to be at work on xmas day.
I don't celebrate Saturdays, but I don't work on those days either. I don't dance round a may pole on mayday, but don't want to work that day either.0 -
if they did open all the rest would follow, I like that most shops are closed christmas day it should be kept this wayBarclaycard 0

Unless there is a change in the law then they can not open their main stores as it is against the law, just like opening for more than 6 hours on a Sunday. It will take more than them getting an alcohol license to allow them to open.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Shops who occupy an area over a certain square footage are not allowed to open on the remaining two religious days we still celebrate (ish)

i know exactly where you are coming from, but i didnt want to say what i meant as i thought it might open a can of worms..
but what i was trying to get at was different religions ( ooo flip i might have opened that can now)
as Britain is now classed as multi -cultural they could use that for being open on christmas day...
me personally without offending anyone... say these are British holidays etc and should remain British..
The supermarkets are going to try every angle to try and get a few more hours opening time....as the way they look at it... for every hour they are closed, they are potentially losing money. They dont like it either that shops below a certain size can open longer hours etc and on certain days.... this is one of the reasons they started opeing express and smaller stores... as they realised the 'local corner shop' was taking x amount of sales away from them.
Supermarkets basically just want to take over the consumer world..:rotfl: and would be quite happy if it was only them selling/dictating what we buy and how much me pay...
ok i might be far fetched in the last bit.. but its getting there, and not far away from the truthWork to live= not live to work0
