  • I must agree - ebay for me too has really slowed over the last 6 months - i was selling my record collection (indie & classic dance) - and at the moment I can't seem to get a bid - even with 99p starts and checking other auctions to make sure 100 wern't already listed - just seem really quiet .........fingers crossed it will pick up soon

I agree - August is always my quietest month. So many people are about to go on holiday or have returned skint!

Increadibly - it also seem as though patterns of bidding have changed too. I used to get a few bids during the course of the auction, now I only seem to receive bids during the final day.

Not sure if some of the novelty value of ebay has worn off.
I do hope you're telling the truth?
  • i've just stick quite a few items on eBay and yeah they have gone a bit slow. fingers crossed it'll pick up soon.

Sold an audiobook to America earlier and without asking me a postage price they just purchased via buy it now and sent me £2.50 to cover costs so I had to email them to say hopefully it would be enough to ship it out to them then they email me back saying they need to cancel as they already have it.

How stupid can people to complete the auction then pay for something and wait for the seller to contact them before they say they dont want the item

They should have an IQ test on ebay so fools cannot buy, I seem to have the most hassle with American buyers
  • im finding it way slow at the moment... was great after xmas.

So can any pros tell us when it will start picking up - first week sept when kids go back?
  • It's been a bit slow lately for me too, though I did sell an old briefcase for £6.52, which surprised me because it was a relisted item which failed to get a £1.99 start bid last time.

I have a note on all my listings for international buyers to contact me prior to bidding so that I can let them know their postage costs in advance. I find that although this reduces the number of buyers it saves me a helluva lot of hassle in the long run. For them not to want the item - that is ridiculous - negative feedback required though suppose that would risk losing 100% yourself (assuming you have 100% that is :D )..........

Going back to the thread - yes, I am finding August quite slow too....
