You should write to them thanking them for their leaflet & concern about your drinking habits.
Explain you can not discuss the matter further as you are taking them to court as they are the cause of your newly found drinking habit, Stress from trying to sort out your waste and recycling and from nosy officials drove you to the drink. You now want compensation.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Are you saying that it would be ok for the council to give Drink Aware leaflets door to door to every house, but not ok for them to give it to the people most likely to need them?
It's not like they're coming in to people's kitchens, or putting cameras in people's front rooms. They're using information that is freely available to them.
It's the equivalent of someone coming on here asking for, say, credit card debt advice and mentioning that they smoke 40 a day. Even though it's not what they came here for, I think posters would be right to suggest they cut down.
Ok lets ignore the fact that the op has clarified its now not the council. (it would have been helpful if the OP had updated the first post)
You still seem to be missing my point. It wouldn't matter who they were giving the leaflets to the question about this would be who is keeping the data and what they are doing with it. Also if this was going on. How could they afford it. The information wouldn't be freely available as they would have to specifically employ someone to monitor this.
It would be a privacy issue and an issue under the data protection act not an issue about drinking0 -

maybe but i wish people would read more than the first post before jumping on in on the council bashing!

Sometimes its not worth wading through all the carp. I think its a fair assumption that the first post should give the story. I apologise for not being as perfect as you both0 -
If you actually spent as much time reading my original post as you did jumping on it you may have read this bit as well. I suggest you both slow down your reading maybe use a bit of card to hold by the line so you read everyone whole post before you make silly comments
If you spent as much time reading ALL the posts, perhaps you'd understand the issue.0 -
well it's given me an idea to avoid filling out a VERY long questionnaire for a BUPA assessment I'm having...will just go take piccies of my recycling boxes and let them make their own minds up0

Most times it is worth reading the posts before contributing.
Though you might want the first post to give the story and to be revised by the OP if there is something significant to change, that does not happen all that often.
When the thread is very long, I can understand not reading every post but this thread is manageable and it prevents lots of advice being repeated with people spending their time composing the same thing. IMHO it is better just to click on "thanks" if you agree that the advice is correct.0 -
The matter has now been resolved, it was not from the council.
I do wish the OP would edit the title of this thread to include "matter resolved".
Title changed as requested!
Our friends down the road also received a copy of the letter, but interesting neither of my neighbours who both appear to drink quite heavily judging by how many bottles they put out (not that I notice such things!).0 -
