Indeed the telephone number (0707) is a non-geographic "personal" phone number.

That says it all then really doesn't it, what the issuer is hoping that people will call the number to complain and they earn mega bucks from each call they receive, whats the betting you get put on hold.

A laughably tragic example of Labour's vision for British society. Nannying control freaks.

Sorry, where did the OP say that it was a Labour run Council?

It might well be, but you're obviously jumping to conclusions at the moment.

You obviously missed the bit about it not actually being FROM the council...

Are you sure this is not someone winding you up?

I have never heard of any other cases like this, I am not sure this is something the Council would do, it sounds more like some prank to me.

Edited to say - Just got on to page2, obviously nothing to do with them.

    They've got a damn cheek.

When they're collected, they don't tick each house off a list do they, so how do the idots know that the bottles and cans weren't put there over a period of times, say 6 months?!

If I were you, I'd respond to the letter and tell them the bottles and cans were from having a wake at your home.

That should shut the fekkers up.
I wouldn't even do that. You do not owe them any explanation- how dare they, it is an infringment of rights!

go and have a look in the councils bins! considering the hospitality fund (and a little experience of council hosted shindigs)my council has - i would expect it to contain a mountain of champagne bottles!!!

My dad is king of recycling.. but he wont put to many wine bottles in the glass box... in case the neighbours think we drink too much :D
So he takes them in car to the bottle bank at tescos :D

I don't think that they are trying to find hardened alcoholics who are hiding their bottles. What good would it do to give someone like that a leaflet?
I think they are targetting those who drink, say, half a bottle of wine every day. They wouldn't necessarily think of themselves as having a problem, but are doing themselves damage nonetheless.

If we are going to have public service health campaigns then what's the problem with trying to direct them at the relevant people?

I think your missing the point Jimmy. Its not the fact that they are giving Drink aware stuff out. Its the fact that they are monitoring what the house is drinking! (if they are and its not a wind up)My questions to the councillors would how is the data being collected. Is it being looged somewhere and who has access to it and if they are they better delete it all

You are missing the point that it wasn't the council in the first place!
