I'd put the box out again the following week with just one soft drink bottle - something like Shloer or Appletise - with a big sign stuck all over it with something to the effect of "Happy now - nosey g1ts" written on it.

That really is shocking and getting closer to being a big brother country.

It's your business what you consume in your own home!

I agree about contacting the local paper.

Its not as if I drink much anyway - a glass of wine or two with the occasional meal and perhaps 5 pints max on a very rare night out.

will they look through mine and tell me to eat friut and veg?

Send them a letter with details of a debt advice agency and say "I see you are wasting a lot more money than is normal...."

    Thanks all.

I have contacted our council to complain - they have told me that this letter is nothing to do with them and some company is trying to flog what some kind of "lifestyle management" service - they are not sure exactly what - passing it off as a council initiative.

Indeed the telephone number (0707) is a non-geographic "personal" phone number and nothing like any of the numbers on the council website (all local, 0800 and 0845 ones). Comparing the letter against letters received about my council tax and a planning matter shows some differences - there is no switchboard phone number at the top for example, and the colours are different.

They have advised me that they have been contacted by a number of people already, have copies of the letter and are taking legal advice.

Did you find that out before or after you voted them out?

LOL now this reminds me of when one of my neighbours started a rumour about me saying that I was an alcoholic after my next door neighbour had a party one new year and asked if she could put some of her empty in my recycle box as hers was full.

The cheeky cow even took photos of my box on her mobile for "proof"

Bit worrying the junk mail is now being targeted around our bins....wonder if they'll look in our brown bin and look at our food waste and decide we don't eat enough fruit and veg...:rotfl:

Though be warned the council did have a moment i think last year when they said they were going to put cameras in our bins....
