Hello everyone by the way :) I'm off to read today's installment of snail dribble...
Long shot - anyone know anything about publishing recipe books?

Dilli, that's so good about the sponsor!! Well done! And sorry about the skin peel, I've never had one and it certainly hasn't encouraged me lol.
2cats, your daughter sounds amazing, and you must be a fab mum if she's so confident at that age; I'll be very proud if any of mine are so determined and confident at that age :) I've booked my driving theory test, just on the phone to my sister talking about baby names, any ideas? xx
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

I will do Munchki - not got too far yet though - i was hoping to cut some corners with the research but i guess it'll be better in the long run if i look into the details. A dribble recipe book sounds great - not daft at all :) x

The last time I seriously looked into it Em, I did not find a single publisher even accepting manuscripts, I could self publish, but I really dont see the point of that either, maybe I am missing something on that front however. I would love to publish it and maybe you have the right idea, maybe it is time to do some more research and see if things are a bit different now. What kind ofcook book were thinking of Em?

Yeah i don't know where to start really Munchki, but then i haven't even looked yet so i guess that would be the start! Mine's a book of desserts; it's taken a while to fine-tune but now i don't know what to do with it :) I don't know anything about publishers - that was one of my weaknesses for today's mini-move - lack of knowledge and so i thought i'd start by asking you lot :) x

Paula - well done on booking the theory....
Oooh baby names.... I could go on forever! Romy was a fav for my DD but we went for Tilly in the end.... and Oakley was one on the list for DS but we went for Seth. I like old names (can you guess??!) like daisy, Millie, Nellie and the like! One requirement for me was that they had to be strong, unusual but not way out...

Dilli - you nana!! I must admit I did something similar with hair removal cream.... my face looked like a slapped @rse for days! Literally!
Well done on the sponser.... How fab is that....really excited for you even if you decide not to take it, the offer in itself is amazing news.

2 Cats - wow.... Dinner by DD.... I can't wait until mine are old enough to take care of me....and I shall milk it for all its worth when they are!!

Mabel - pass the choccie....I;m pulling another late one tonight.

Hey Munchki - hows the peace and quiet of the new flat???

EM - how are you my dear??

M&P - have you tried auctions yet for you clothes or just BIN's??? I have decided I want to get shot of them and concentrate on PM and they are taking up space that I would do with! Save us a bit of PIzza.... I love Dominos but the nearest is near Mabel , 50 mile round trip!!

Em I think if you self publish with someone like lulu or amazon etc and start to do fairly well then it can lead to a publishing deal but I also think with recipe books publishers are only interested in celebrity chefs at the moment.
self publishing might work well if you could raise your profile in other ways in terms of blogs/ websites etc that may not necesarily related to cooking but give you a face and personality and also link to your book.
Other possibilty would be an e-book
or a mini e-book as a taster with option of buying the full book if they like what they see.
    Just initial thoughts.
