I threw this on smirkin but no-one was around. Looks like no-one is here either but worth a punt.

Today I have been given a hard decision to make.

My current team, ie me and my boss, have been told we may get the budget next year for an additional head. This would involve splitting my current workload into two very different roles. Currently between us we look after all aspects of this including marketing and operations however if we are to get the additional person we need to clearly define their role, I have pretty much been given the choice of my role and I can either go down the route of online marketing exec or online operations exec.

The challenger in me is swaying towards marketing exec as it's all quite new to me and holds my interest yet as it is unknown there is the risk that I may fall flat and if so be lost without potentially a future, likewise I will be a new fish in a pond of already established marketing exec's who are all currently looking for progression.
The family man in me sways towards the operations exec because I can do it and do it well and it offers less risk but at the same time potentially less growth for my career development and future earnings. That would of course be dependant on what I did with the role and how I could grow it.

I know we have too much work on not to need the extra person but we need to move very very quickly as we are up against other marketing managers who are looking to take the extra head for themselves and have already a clearly defind role for them.

If you want, if it would help, I can provide a list of everything that we cover and potentially how it could be split but not sure if that confuses it more. (that would be smirkin only)

    What would you do????

    Hi all :)
I think I'm having what would be one of my more withdrawn times, only this antidepressant seems to have beaten off all the negative round-and-round thoughts so I'm just quiet. I've also been 'dumped' by the friend with the garden, she sent me a text saying we couldn't be friends any more as she couldn't cope with my kids breaking her kids things and teaching them naughty behaviour, so that was pretty horrible.
Babymoo, hope you're feeling OK today, you seem to have been through a lot lately, hugs xx
Jo, rreally good luck with the job, hope your research goes well too xx
Elly, I've done two of your Sulkies so far :) xx
Nixi, why don't you be like me and do your own hair... oh no wait, that's why I look like a badger...really should sort that out at some point before I have 3-tone hair...lol xx
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

    Hi Paula,
big hugs hun. shame about the garden and the text being put in a not nice way. guess you and her just didn't "match". it reminds me a lot of this blogpost.
glad the anti-d's are holding off the negative spiral and that you are ok with your quiet time.
Cagne my instinct would be go with the marketing it seeems like your next stage of growth, it interests you and you are being given the opportunity.
Neither choice is the wrong decision or the only right one.

Yay Jo....... amazing what a difference a good haircut can make :)

Cagne - hmm tough one. If you can really see the future in being self employed and the marketing will benefit that, and you enjoy it then I would go for that BUT if you want to stay in a job with prospects then possibly the operations would be a better, though possible not as fulfilling, choice as from you have said you would have more promotional opportunities at your current company in the operations department. You know of course that I would pick the marketing ;) especially as your complany seem very good at the training ..... envious of the course you are on next week!! Think you have big decisions to make about your future...... always hard, especially on a tight time scale. What does your heart say?? I know your head probably says operations?

Paula - hugs hun, sounds like she wasn't a very good friend to you but she has just lost a good friend in you...... silly woman. Def. her loss. If I did my own hair I wouldn't be able to leave the house lol !!

    N xx

i'm with paula i do mine a lot i go for regular cheap wet cuts by regular i mean every 3 months then every nine months pay for full restyle. i colour it myself though sitting here waiting for kids i came home early and there is none here yet lol.
paula i've had friends where once there is nothing left for you to do for them they !!!! off not a real friend otherwise she would have just came to yours to play .she can spend time on her own polishing their halos in the lovely back garden you created for her.
my husband is forever going on about me helping people who dont appreciate it so i have gradually withdrawn my services rather than friendship if that makes any sense .
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x

cagne write yourself a list ie operations vs marketing all good and bad include wages, hours, travelling, security, hours at home if any i.e taking the job home with you ,security, promotion, bonus, ect give a point for positive and take away for negative see what job gets the most points ultimately gut instinct will direct you hope this helps elly.
