Hmmm, I was just with the OH as he was getting his hair done. He goes to a unisex salon and there isn't a beauty bit in it. I'm wondering if it would be worth proposing that I could get a spot in the hairdressers a couple days a week. On a commission rather than renting basis so its kind of 'win win'.

Would boost my client base but if unsure if its an overly brilliant idea. Any input?

Sorry to interupt, but does anyone here have any legal knowledge? I'd like some advice and CAB have been useless so far.

    Sorry again x

ok flying visit just had to share am so gobsmacked been thinking on how to promote business so went in to the local sandwich shop this morning and asked if i could display a dummy cake in the window, lo and behold he has asked if i could supply tray bakes as he sells alot of these and he would buy them off me and is only too happy to display my cakes! woohoo just have to work it all out and have told i would get back to him afer i had worked it all out, guess what i'll be doing this weekend!. Do you think i should make up a sample of muffins, tablet, cupcakes, lemon drizzle, cookies etc and see if he wants to stock some of that? totally other end of town from sewing shop (not that this is a big town) so hopefully get in there too!!!

will add up totals for posse later this evening

skint (soon to be rich) bint!!!

Skint, just thought I'd mention - when I had a shop we asked a local bakery for prices and they sent us a box of samples. There was enough of each for the three of us to taste, but small enough pieces that we wanted to taste more. We ended up using him for a couple of years. Personally I would keep it to 3 or 4 items and let him know that you do other things and would be happy to send samples of some of those the following week. Keeps the work down for you, and less pressure.

    Well done!!!

evening everyone! what a glorious day out today!

well had my interview today finally lol, will be a few days I think before I find out, but it will be a nice pay rise for me, so keeping everything crossed!

Have decided on 5 pieces of fabric, just need to find the co-ordinating plain fabric now to match them and then going to put together 5 quillows over the next week or so. Decided that i would try out 5 to start with that way I am not out a whole lot if they dont sell! If they dont sell, well then I have the starts of xmas pressies lol. I am quite excited about it and must say the money I earn (hopefully) from them will be put away and saved towards a little runner of a car as i think it is going to be a neccessity, not a luxury as my knees really cant take the long walk.

Skint - Very well done on the shop orders!!! I agree with the others, give him exactly what he wants this time around and perhaps a sample or two each time you make a delivery as you never know who he knows etc as well as this really could be the starts of something really big yet to come!!! I am so pleased for you and that all the hard work is paying off!

Nikki - I think trying to see if you can do some commission only space in the unisex salon is a great idea and worth looking into, nothing ventured and all that! Great news on the new clients.

Dilli - I do hope you are trying to take out at least a few mins for some 'me' time as you wont be much good to anyone including yourself if you hit burnout, been there done that myself in the past.

I am sure there is more that I have missed, however I do want to wish everyone a fantastic rest of the day!! Sure I will be around tonight.

Ever wish you could really comment sometimes, but know it is probably best to not open your mouth??? Having one of those moments lol xx

Munchki - glad the interview went well. fingers crossed.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of the quillows and sure you will enjoy making them again.
Nikki - sounds like a good idea about the salon.
Saucy eating stuff like melon and cucmber and oranges etc will help to keep you hydrated too.

    Evening all :)

Well done Skint - great news on the cakes :T what an exciting opportunity for you and great to be doing something you love too.

Jo - we didn't use any plans for the duck house, i just told him what i wanted and he made it - he's pretty handy with things like that, i wouldn't have known where to start! I am responsible for painting it pink and green though :D

Saucy - i might be able to help with the legal question as i've got a degree in law but it depends on the question - it was some time ago and specialising more in criminal and family law so i'm less up on the business/ employment side. I have plenty of reference books though so if i don't know the answers, i could try to find out.

Munchki - i'd be interested to hear more about your quillows and to see some pics if it's not giving away too much. I'm glad you're finally in a place where you can pursue this :j

Hello to everyone else, hope everyone's ok - nice to see Amber back :)
    Just £10,852.28p to go...

Oooh Munchki, I meant to ask about doggy quillows. I'd love to buy one for puppy, if you'll be making any...He likes sleeping on things (apart from in his expensive bed, where he only goes to dig, lol)

Em, I'll PM you, thank you :)

I'm really trying with drinking. OH is giving me drinks everywhere. Must have cups all over the house, mostly full, lol. Giving it a good go, though! Didn't realize fruit would help too, thanks Jo. I'm gonna make a fruit salad :)
