Hi Laura, how are you?

I need to menu plan but so uninspired.
I can manage the evening meals in an ok but slightly boring way but always come unstuck on lunches and end up nipping out for rubbish.
also find it almost impossible to get my head around getting different things from different shops according to the price. I just get rabbit in headlights syndrome.
want to make more of our own treats too instead of buying shop stuff all the time.
and thats as far as I've got.
ie I know what I want to do but organising it is a different story.
rant over

Ok Paula my only other ideas are
early morning weekend cleaning. OH might need to get up a bit early but then you would probably have work over with in time for him to still do masters work. I think skint does this.
Not very inspiring but you can picture what it is helping you to achieve while you scrub. lol
Eager learners daily clicks. monotonous and boring but you could imagine it as one of the boring admin tasks that most jobs come with. may start doing this myself if I can get organised.
Become a childminder when DD starts nursery??
When I was looking at fostering I saw that our local authority also needs people to offer respite care for disabled children. this can be as little as a few hours on a weekend day. you go through the same vetting process as for fostering but may not need a spare room. it is usually the same family/ child that you are paired with too. This might feel like a step towards fostering and could possibly fit in round OHs commitments.

Hi Jo
I'm trying the same thing and every week goes by and I buy the same old stuff, or I do ok and then someone has eaten what I wanted to keep for a meal
Have you looked on netmums for ideas? they are pretty good if you have young children/ But for me with DH who won't have fruit/veg/pasta/rice and a fussy teenager its very hard to do8 years of being on a DMP finished 3/3/140 -
Thanks trying hard I will go and have a look there.
Hope you get somewhere with it too. sounds like you are getting there but with some blips along the way. maybe if you just keep on keeping on the blips will become fewer and fewer.

Thanks Jo you too, might have to find a 'hidey' hole so family doesn't go through the treats so quick!
Sad though I am, I'm off to watch the Eurovision!

Jo, know what you mean, I hate cooking and can never think of what to buy for the week! I don't meal plan as such but I tend to get a lot of value tinned and packet stuff; this week I bought some soya and lentils to bulk out things like mince in gravy, spag bol, etc; then I get big packs of chicken breasts, pork steaks etc and separate before freezing. Do you try to buy locally? I really need to check out my local butchers for prices. We get a big shop from Tesco but it's all cheap stuff, it's just that delivery costs the same as a taxi would and I don't have to drag the kids round the shops! Have you looked through the recipes on the Old Style Grocery Challenge thread? xxI have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0

Hi all-have spent the afternoon at mums with sis and neices...made a birthday cake for my Dad in the kitchen with the 'help' of one Niece. Told her it was a surprise and not to tell Grandad. she proceeded to run into the living room ,right up to Grandad and whispered in his ear-'we're making you a cake but it's a surprise'....Must get sis to explain the concept of secrets, think she reckons as long as its whispered it doesnt count! Cake was yummy though :-)
Have made a decision today...my blog is going..its causing hassle at the moment, I hate writing it and I think that shows. I'd rather spend the time working on new designs for the site instead-so there!!! Aren't I rebellious!0
