Oh come on - worst recession since the year blah, and he can't pin anything on Labour?

To fail to get an outstanding majority given a gift like the mess of the last couple of years? - you'd have to be an idiot.

Or, be fair, have another idiot as your party leader.

So what does that make all of the people who voted Labour at the election?
  • Osborne's major task isn't to convince us, its to convince the city. According to the professional money hawks and charlatans, the man is less preferable to pretty much anyone else. Considering that at the same time they are also massively pro-Tory, that tells us lots about how useless he is.

Anyway we shall see won't we!

Anyone who thinks that the unions won't rise up against him en masse if he starts slashing jobs is deluded.

We already have the British Airways cabin crews doing a "Turkeys voting for Xmas" farce in defence of their originally public sector terms and conditions.
I think we will find that the work force, unionised or not, will realise that "there is no alternative". We have already seen examples of work forces accepting pay cuts and part time working to preserve their jobs.
The proportion of GDP absorbed by the public sector has nearly doubled since the 1960's - I certainly don't feel twice as well governed as a result of the increased spending. So if large sections of the public service sack themselves by going on strike; I'm sure we will manage without them.
We cannot afford to go on borrowing from our children's futures - forget the student debt - we are all, young or old, going to be lumbered with a 35,000 debt the way things are going.
In the final analysis there are plenty of low paid people in Europe not to mention India & China prepared to do our jobs for a lot less.

John Selwyn Gummer was a Tory MP, thought to be a risk for not implementing the party policy. So he was given[STRIKE]minders[/STRIKE] "advisors". This job was known colloquially as "minding the chimp".
Perhaps Osborne could be kitted out with some advisors, before being allowed out in public ?
