That would be a good combination, IMHO. There is a lot of experience there, as will be required for, no doubt, some of the most important decisions that will be needed from the Treasury for decades, affecting the UK economy & society for many years to come. There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0 -

If they had done that originally they might have achieved an overall majority in the first placeThey should have got the LibDems to administer their election strategy. Kenny hovering around the even money mark.
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Osborne has been confirmed as Chancellor.
I think VC is highly overated and not up to the job TBH.0 -
I'm scared.

If he can avoid spending more than the tax coming in during the next boom he will have done better that the last lot.
(don't forget Clarke and cable will be in the background, the chancellor in reality is just the mouth piece of a department.0 -
I hope you're right.0

disagree.... he's one of the few who has an appropriate job based on experience and ability. Hopefully he will play leading role (behind the scenes of course!).
If VC is not chancellor then it will be due to DC not wanting anyone taking his glory....
... just thought .... VC/DC - has a ring about it??0 -
Probably very hard to have PM and chancellor from different parties, they practically have to live together, its a very close relationship.0

I don't know that Osborne is actually that bad at doing the job, it's just he is appalling at public speaking which in this media driven world always makes you look a right numpty.0
