I think I want an iPhone!
Hello,
I think I want an iphone. I am very inexperienced with mobiles, and only have a pay as you go brick.
I have researched the iphone, but there is so much conflicting information that I am in such a muddle. I'm not sure whether to buy one outright and go pay as you go, or get a contract, or even get one!
I've heard you can't bargain with a phone company if you've not currently got a contract - there's so much stuff that I really don't know what to believe that I am almost on the verge of giving up and just updating my brick.
Are there any alternatives that are cheaper and comparable with the iphone? Are there any pitfalls in having one of these phones / kind of phones? I am computer literate and they kind of look like fun - are they?
I would be most grateful for any help you might be able to offer...
MANY THANKS...

THANK YOU PJB and DaveTrousers for taking time out to answer...
Does anyone have an iphone that can comment on whether they're good / worth their price?0 -
I have an iphone and am on the o2 £35 month tariff, I love my iphone and use it as an ipod touch all the time, the apps are brilliant and my phone has been really reliable.
My contract is up next month and I have decided to keep the phone and switch to o2 sim only iphone tariff which is £15 a month. My iphone was a refurb when I originally got it so it was free, maybe see if you can buy a refurb from o2 as they may be free or a lot cheaper than brand new.
My husband has the google G1 which is an android phone, the battery doesn't last very long and constantly crashes, he is going to switch and get an iphone when his contract is up.
I would go and have a play with one in the phone shops and see how you get on, the lack of a keyboard can be a sticky point for some but I don't find it bothersome.
the HTC desire does look good as well, but for me the added benefit of the iphone is the fact that it is also an ipod touch integrated.

If you do go for it, can I suggest you go through a place that gives you a 14 day change of mind policy. That way if you don't like it, you can return it.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

MANY THANKS HippyChick - I really appreciate you sharing your experience, especially the info on a refurb (I had dismissed them as sounding rather dodgy / unreliable).
I think I better go play then!Hippychick wrote: »I have an iphone and am on the o2 £35 month tariff, I love my iphone and use it as an ipod touch all the time, the apps are brilliant and my phone has been really reliable.

Curiously I have heard the ipod touch described as an iphone without the phone.
What do you mean "use it as an ipod touch"? Games, apps, MP3/Music etc? You can use HTC (and other smart phones) phones for that too......0
