Why has nobody mentioned the Conservatives would repeal the Hunting with Dogs act ?
Publicise this and it would be worth 1 million votes to Labour.0 -
I really wouldn't want the Conservatives to get in, not that I don't think Labour have made mistakes.
Whilst I would never rule out voting Conservative, unfortunately this time, as in the last three elections, they are not offering anything other than not being Labour. Whether you love or hate Labour they offered a real change in 1997 which is why they got in.
Credit crunch and recession - I agree that this is a global problem, and I don't for one minute think it wouldn't have happened under Conservatives...indeed I honestly think it would have happened sooner, and lasted for longer. Lets face it they're hardly in a position to lecture anyone on financial regulation given their track record (BCCI, Barings, Mirror Group).
I also remember my parents struggling to pay the mortgage under Conservatives when interest rates kept jumping upwards, and my dad being made redundant (although to be fair he was retrained and did very well out of it).
As for the banks, anyone that could honestly say that Labour should not have supported the banking system is detached from reality and really doesn't grasp the horror that would have ensued afterward. As the recovery takes hold the value of the bank shares the government bought will increase in value, and perhaps even show a profit.
So no, overall I can't vote Conservative!0 -
I remember a Labour government that banned the only activity that me and my father shared, pistol shooting.
I remember a government that promised to be tough on crime, and the causes of crime, now every other week there is mention of a murder, or rape and lots and lots of Anti-Social Behaviour.
I remember a government that promised not to let house prices get out of control; now I earn more that most of the people I know, but still can't afford to buy a house.
I remember a government that has forced us in to 2 wars that are nothing to do with us (even though our boys and girls are doing a bang-up job) and refuse to bring our forces home. A government that sold off our wealth at a knock down price. A government that has snuck into bed with the EU and is holding on to the duvet pretty damn tight. A government that keeps on bringing in more laws, rather that enforcing the ones we already have. A government who seems to like giving money to the people who don't want to work for it (poor and rich alike).
Labour has done as Labour will always do, bankrupt the country and then slag off the next government when they have to take a hard line to rectify the problems.
I couldn't stand another term of Labour, and can't believe that the sheep keep voting them in. Please, for the love of God, vote, whichever way your heart desires. If you have to vote Labour, then at least read the policies of all of the parties in your area first.0 -

RBS share price is already more than the price Darling paid, Lloyds are getting closer.
Given that interest rates are still low, and the only way is up for them (so long as we don't have a double dip recession) then the bank shares might actually turn in to rather an attractive asset in a couple of years.
"I remember a government that promised to be tough on crime, and the causes of crime, now every other week there is mention of a murder, or rape and lots and lots of Anti-Social Behaviour." - with respect I think that was probably the case before Labour got in, indeed there was enough violence from the poll tax riots to keep the Daily Mail scaremongering for a year!!0 -
Last night I saw a programme with Jonathan Dimbleby and a selection of floating voters interviewing Vince Cable, George Osbourne and Alistair Darling.
Have got to say I thought Mr Osbourne said the best answers for me by a long way, I only wish they would do what they say.
It's a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea for voters I know but Labour under Gordon Brown has been a disaster. And I agree with the prospective Labour candidate that believes Brown is the worst Prime Minister ever!
At least for him he will go down in history as the top at something significant.0 -
What is wrong with people. Labour have ruined this country, private pension crisis, illegal war in Iraq, war in Afganistan, unrestricted immigration, worst economic crisis of all major countries, intolerable strain on all services, allowing major services and industries to be sold to overseas buyers, etc, the list goes on.
Think, think, think............0 -
I forgot to say I voted for Labour as the party I DON'T want in.
Comrades Gordon and other traitors have made the Labour party into the communist party and betrayed the working classes by doing the exact opposite of the party was established for ie. providing a decent working pay and conditions for the native working people of this country .... NOT giving away our industries and jobs to the lowest foreign bidders or scab "migrants" labourers that care nothing about doing anything and everything illegal to buck the laws.0 -
I agree with Nick.0

This is the only time in my life I have voted conservative and that's to keep them out :-)
I really can't stand the thought of that puffed up squeaky voiced posh kid Cameron ballooning his chest and ego as our P.M at the despatch box! Not only has he got no idea of the job, he's also bought and paid for by Ashcroft et al so he's just their puppet anyway.
Favours for cash given, watch and wait if this happens!0 -
I just get so incensed at anyone who keeps saying about what it was like under Thatcher Ahrrrrrrrrrr! That was over 13 years ago for God's sake! and in the mean time we have had 13 years of the most mismanaged economy known to this country. And as for knocking DC for his looks and false charm, apart from being such a ridiculous reason for not voting a particular way; have you seen GB these last few weeks - like a grinning Cheshire cat on steroids! pass me the sick bucket.
Policies, policies, policies - that's what is important to remember when you place your cross tomorrow. Your choices are:
Labour: another 5 years of the same old rubbish economics that got us where we are today and will probably make us the next Greece. He tells lies and treats the British public like fools. His gaff last week with the Rochdale pensioner shows his real feelings. Ask him about his policies and all he can say is what the Tories will do.
Lib Dem: He might be charming and good looking but his party's policies are all over the place - get him in and we will all be in the Eurozone (think Greece) in no time, we will have no national defence left to speak of and his immigration ideas of regional control are just a joke, and that's just for starters.
Conservative: Someone who is willing to start making changes NOW (not in 12 or 24 months time when it's too late) to save us from economic disaster, someone who will create more jobs and wealth and someone with a no-nonsense approach of telling us like it is.
You can probably tell where my X is going. But if you don't agree with me go out and vote anyway - better a wrong vote than a wasted one. Good luck David0
