I don't trust either the Conservatives or Labour because they are so far removed from the reality that many voters live.

I cannot believe there are more people would rather NOT have a Conservative government than the same Labour one that has got us into our present mess with their prolific spending. Where have you all been over the last couple of years? Harping back to Thatcher (love her or hate her) is silly, I'm a Conservative and I ain't harping back to the mess in the late 70's as an excuse not to vote Labour. I would not vote for them purely on the record of their 13 years in government. Nick Clegg has some seriously dangerous policies on defence and immigration and all this talk about "honesty" is blinding certain people to the hard facts on their policies.

The Conservatives are not perfect and, truth be told, for me as an individual at this moment in time the Liberal Democrats would give me a better deal but one has to look at the bigger picture and into the future a few years. Has anyone actually read the Conservative manifesto? I have and there are some really good policies in there. They have pledged to keep increasing spending on the NHS and will NOT be getting rid of free bus passes, TV licences and winter fuel payments for the elderly. David Cameron made this quite clear in one of the TV debates following a Labour leaflet smear campaign alleging the opposite.

But, when all is said and done, the most important thing is to make your vote (spoil the ballot if you don't fancy any of them), anyone who does not vote has no right to complain about what happens over the next 4/5 years.

Most major businesses support the conservatives. Why do you think that is? If MSE should teach us anything it's that businesses do not have consumers interests at heart.

10% inflation, 15% mortgage rates, as many public services as possible sold off, millions unemployed with no help.

    Tories? NEVER, NEVER, NEVER

Voting conservative is like a slave voting for their master.
  • David Cameron wants us to believe the Conservatives have changed and are no longer the nasty party. However, he has said he will give Parliament a chance to repeal the Hunting Act i.e bring back fox and deer hunting and hare coursing. And, as an ex-Tory voter, I wouldn't be surprised to see otters back on the hunting menu now that populations are recovering. Sadly, the Tories don't change, they look after their own and sod the rest of us.

I've just read the four pages of drivel that this thread has generated so far, and I can't say that I'm surprised to encounter some of the utter nonsense that some of you have spewed out. It's quite impressive how truly ignorant many of you are; this thread is riddled with a plethora of policy and statistical inaccuracies.

I was saying only today to several of my colleagues how it infuriates me how clueless so many people are when it comes to the facts this election, yet they still have a strong view one way or the other, despite actually how skewed or misguided it is. I honestly wish that only those who are actually knowledgeble enough to know their party's policies, are actually allowed to vote.

Several of us had a go at the quiz on votematch earlier (in the MSE newsletter) and it was interesting to see the results certain people were getting. Perhaps in the future a similar tool to this could be used to actually determine the views, and ultimately the votes, of the British public. No doubt if this were ever to happen though, we'd probably end of with a BNP government in power...

I am so pleased to see that the majority of responders seem to agree with me that the prospect of the combination of Cameron & Osborne running thr economy (or should that be RUINING) fills me with horror. I only hopethat sufficient people who feel as I do turn out to vote.

In 1996 at the end of the last Tory Gov. I had to wait 10 months to see a consultant and the waiting list for joint replacements was at least 3 years! Now it is 12 weeks to see a consultant and 12 weeks to your op! The thought of the Tory's destroying the NHS fills me with dread.
