Voted labour all of my life until last night, when I voted Tory.
Like the vast majority of people, I cannot stand Brown. If Labour had someone else as leader (as they should heve done), I would probably have voted for them again.
Brown is the is the worst PM that we have ever had. He is a liar and his people skills are deplorable. Look at his 'bigot' gaffe of the other week and the way he always blames other for his many mistakes as well as hardly ever apologises for them. He has destroyed the pensions (by taxing dividends), has deployed continual stealth taxes, has not given money to our troops to ensure they are probably equipped in Iran & Afghan, has taken us into a dire recession that is far worse than any of the other advanced nations, impacted our relationship with USA (Obama effectively ignores him), etc.
There should be one good thing with a hung parliament. If Labour do cling onto power by forming a coalition with the Lib Dems, Brown will not be the PM and good riddance to him !! Let him go back to Scotland and do something outside of government; so he can't ruin our economy even more.
Anyway whoever forms the governent, there should be another election within 12 months cos they will effectively be a 'no' confidence vote within that timeline.0 -
The only certainty now is another General Election.0

The markets are global, we have to work within those constraints whether we like it or not.
It's a bit like an individual saying, my bank is making too much money so I'm going to mortgage my home to the hilt, max out all my cards and go on a spending spree. That'll show 'em!
Can you see Martin advocating that approach to personal finances? Yet that's almost exactly what Gordon Brown has done with the UK economy.0 -

No, by any stretch of imagination I'm no supporter of any main stream parties but I find inverted snobbery and hypocrisy utterly !!!!!! and unappealing. This is why the conservatives would be Britain's future, at least for some time - because those who work hard, yes even the working class wouldn't want to be squeezed out of their last penny to persistently attempt at elevating the lives of the spongers. Which is a shameful state of affairs because Britain is a progressive nation and by now we should have given a royal ditch to both the labour parties and the tories and moved on to serving the environment through reducing consumption by making our lifestyles aesthetic and ascetic. But we can't afford to because a section of people are driven to work their sweat out so that the losers can be served. There's no end to this cycle, forget going green.0 -
Ha ha, thanks for that - we need something to laugh about!:D0 -
This is the problem with some* among the commoners; those* belonging to the lowest denominator in the society - the ^ envy, the sneer at those privileged - it is ugly. Isn't this exactly what the feckless, ferals and the chronic losers expect from the ones who work hard and churn wealth for the society - state benefits? Not all of them, the vast majority of them however are losers by choice. Or do you miss the irony when you're busy bile-spewing about the wealthy and the tories across threads? As for their privileged status and inspirational policies for the wealthy; I'm all for it. I've said this before and I'll say it again - in a civlised society people should have total freedom to earn, own, inherit as much money as they wish to. So don't dress up your envy in lofty terms and present it as concerns. Such people who eye on other people's property and wealth are rogues and that's also precisely what thieves do.

why is it that we have to start getting rude and insulting?? By your own standards you are quote: 'utterly !!!!!! and unappealing'.
Is it ok to have an opinion that is differant to yours?
Being one of the 'commoners' I would like to know what is your interpretation of hard work? Is 59 hours per week hard graft enough, or do you think my husband should do more? What about my 30 hours a week? do you mind that I only do that many hours? is it ok to spend some time with my children? I really would be interested to know what you do for a living?
I am not jealous of anyone who works hard and reaps the benefits however, I am appaulled by the snobbery of some who have lead a very privileged life never having to work for anything looking down their noses at the 'real' hard working individuals who work extremely hard for in comparison what is very little return.
You are entitled to your opinion but you do not have to be insulting in the process!0
