We all know it's going to get worse before it gets better whoever gets in, but if this lot retain power it's going to be a lot worse that the other alternative because we have to think of the future when it's all over (if it ever is!) and we need a government that doesn't think in the short term like labour.

Get real! Things are going to get worse whoever gets in - if not we will be another Greece very soon with street riots and people being killed. Taxes WILL increase. Interest rates will follow (and as a saver that pleases me). Unemployment will turn around if businesses are allowed to borrow from the banks to get them moving again (What's Darling done about that?) As for the NHS, Cameron has already promised to ring-fence it. However if Brown gets in his increase in NI contributions WILL negatively affect the NHS along with every other business and non pensioner in the country. You may be jumping for joy tomorrow but your joy will soon turn to rage if Brown is allowed to have his way for another 5 years.

I dont expect I will be able to save when Conservatives are in power as a working class person with a modest income. Infact when interest rates rise I dont expect to even keep my house!!

Lets wait and see!!!! In the meantime Terry D you can enjoy watching your money grow safe in the knowledge that its someone else who is struggling to pay the bills and put food on the table.

My opinion is mine and your opinion is yours, it is wrong to suggest one is right and one is wrong, what is good for you may not be so good for me!!

Good point, and ultimately the best thing about the UK - the fact we can have different views
The proof that some people really are opinionated and ignorant

Cameron will get my vote because the heigh of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result

That's just ridiculous. The future is never going to be a perfect carbon copy of the past. A Labour government today will not necessarily behave in the same way as a Labour governement of the past, and the same applies for the other parties. Are you seriously voting for Cameron so that you can repeat what happened in the Thatcher years?!

The most important issue in this election is establishing a fairer democracy by reforming parliament. We should be given more say in how their country is governed by being able to vote on issues instead of someone to (mis-)represent us, and our votes should count equally. A system in which a party can get (say) 30% of votes yet 5% of seats is unfair and encourages tactical voting instead of giving people the ability to choose the candidate/government that they want.

If the Lib Dems weren't intending to join the Euro and give away our rights to control our currency I might think about voting for them. The current system means that I can't support any party and so I have no say in the future of our country. And neither does anyone else. The most we can do is defer our opinions to a representative upon whom we bestow no obligation to actually represent us! It stinks.

Yeah I wish we could vote on individual policies but too many people fail to grasp even the current one. I support the Lib Dems idea of political reform. I hate having to choose between the lesser of two evils BUT a Conservative Government would hit the most vulnerable in this country and that can't be right.

; I've just read the four pages of drivel that this thread has generated so far, and I can't say that I'm surprised to encounter some of the utter nonsense that some of you have spewed out. It's quite impressive how truly ignorant many of you are; this thread is riddled with a plethora of policy and statistical inaccuracies.

I was saying only today to several of my colleagues how it infuriates me how clueless so many people are when it comes to the facts this election, yet they still have a strong view one way or the other, despite actually how skewed or misguided it is. I honestly wish that only those who are actually knowledgeble enough to know their party's policies, are actually allowed to vote.

Several of us had a go at the quiz on votematch earlier (in the MSE newsletter) and it was interesting to see the results certain people were getting. Perhaps in the future a similar tool to this could be used to actually determine the views, and ultimately the votes, of the British public. No doubt if this were ever to happen though, we'd probably end of with a BNP government in power...[/UNQUOTE] :rotfl::rotfl:

    FACTS!!!!

Where do we get FACTS from??

I have a saying which we all might want to think about..

Q.. How do you know when a politican is telling an 'untruth'?

A.. When their lips start to move.

I listen to our Prime Minister telling us that he never refused any requests from the military for extra resources. I guess that is a fact, but of those requests for extra resources... How many did he actually grant?

It is all very good saying he did not refuse the requests, but not refusing simply means his 'In-Box' is still very full or these requests are still pending.

When a minister was confronted about the allegations of our Prime Minister being being a bully, the minister simply answered that the allegation was 'Laughable'

Yes I guess it was, but it would be nice if we had an answer.

Who did I not want to form a government?

I guess none of the above but on reflection....

I have read posts criticising previous governments for having high unemployment levels but these critics seem to forget that getting the truth out of a politican is even more difficult than walking on water. How many unemployed people are there between the ages of 18 -24yrs?.

Not in education, full time employment or training (NEET)? Is it 8 million? As of 2007, 9.4% of that age group was classified as NEET and that figure is rising at an alarming rate.

    What about sickness benefit?

So Mr or Ms Dogpitt what did your educated group say about these issues?

I live in Torbay and sadly there is no private major employer. We have a useless Liberal MP that just watched the only large factory close which left 5000 people unemployed. FIVE THOUSAND and it never even made the National News. If Torbay was a Labour held constituency then you could be sure that millions of pounds would be thrown into the area.

I voted Liberal just because of all their so called policies :)

I would like to see the Monster Raving Luny Party get elected because they at least know they are crazy and being honest would be quite unique.

Peter Mandelson wants to remove the House of Lords because he claims it is comprised of 'unelected members'!!!! Who elected this sacked ex MP? Oh sorry, I forgot, he is an unelected member of the House of Lords

Oh look at this ... 1987 economy good, 2010 economy shot... Labour ruined it all and the incoming tory Prime Minister is alrready hated for the tough decisions necessary...
    [/QUOTE]

Hmm what happened to the economy post 1987? Er and as for recent times that was nothing to do with a global recession caused in part due to toxic debt and dodgy funds? I lived through a recession that the Tories 'managed' they managed to get interest rates and inflation to much higher levels.

Definitely want Brown out. Would rather a better choice of who I'd vote IN though.
