*steps out of lurking once again*

    Hi all

Had a few days of madly cleaning my house, and it seems most of you have too! I dream of our forever house too and it's the thing that really motivates me to become mortgage free, the fact that it will open up opportunities for a much bigger house in a better location. But do you know what? Over the last few days I have thrown out/charity shopped bags and bags and bags of stuff we no longer use or need (still a work in progress mind, we still have 3 bread boards for example :rotfl:). As a result my house looks so much better, it's welcoming and full of interesting things. I've gathered all my craft materials together and put them in one place which feels like such an indulgence to have an area dedicated to my hobby. The kitchen work surfaces are clear so we can now see and fully appreciate the gorgeous oak worktop hubby put in a couple of years ago. The floor boards in the living room are clean and I even splashed out and bought a big bunch of sunflowers which are right next to part of the living room I'll be giving birth in.

Have had a big bowl of nutricious museli, and thanks to the inspiration gathered from this thread I'm gonna go and tackle a bit more now.

Have a good day all :D

you bought flowers?????????/ RED ALERT MR COURGETTE!!!!!!!

Courgette is nesting - get ready to catch!!!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Hope you have as gentle a time as i did with DS2 who was born at home (really fast too :j:j, midwife arrived for last push and to catch him)

Nice to snuggle into your own bed with your new baby - have tea when you want - use your own shower!!! Raid your own fridge (i slept until mid afternoon then woke up with munchies like no other _ LOL)

Sounds like you have been really busy too. I not only managed to undercoat my front door but it now glossed a spanking shiny pillar box red. Red apparently attracts money - and seeing as the 2.5 litres only cost me a pound if any of you local ladies fancy tarting up your front door I have plenty going spare.

I identified the front door as the place where my negative thoughts about the house were sitting. A scruffy, half undercoated door led to a scruffy - half finished house................ well no more!!!!!!!

Now I can start working around the house, sorting what needs fixing, priming and undercoating, decorating furniture and making soft furnishings. leading up to a grand painting week at the end of this challenge - which will leave only the sourcing of decent carpets to finish the whole shebang. well thats the theory - but i have lots of interesting things to learn before then.

BTW My heart now sings as i go through my front door.

    Hey all,

I think your influence is rubbing off on me - today I have -
Blitzed the house - though its still not exactly pristine its way better than before.
Made a fruit loaf and chicken pasta bake to use up some of the freezer and cupboard store.

And tomorrow I'm going to start following the couch to 5k program - eek!

Good luck to everyone with their endeavours.

I think my door is now dry enough to shut without it sticking - but I'm a "wee feardie" so i'm going to shower the boys and then shutit when they pop into bed.

Tomorrow is blitz day - you have inspired me!!! So Blitz till 1pm, lunch and then some mind map planning in the afternoon, sunday dinner and a book in bed.

    Sounds like a plan.

Oooh!! and it sounds like we get the keys for the school on tuesday - so anyone in the vicinity who fancies a cuppa can pop over and visit as long as they don't mind wielding a paintbrush for an hour - LOL>

Reporting in at breakfast time. just feeding the boys who want a "quiet day" after all their excitement with Granny yesterday.

i have already primed the inside of my front door - turning it from a very cheap looking dark=wood colour, to a very streaky looking white primer - Lol. the front took a couple of coats before the gloss went on so this will be the same. I will be painting the inside a gloss white instead of red BTW as the red is abit intense for the hallway.

Reporting in on the fabulous figure target - I am now 2lbs closer to my target (I have decided not to talk about "losing" the weight because I don't want the universe finding it again and sending it back - LOL)

Target is to start at 9am on the busy morning - which gives me a good four hours to get organised for a busy week ahead painting the school. Hopefully I will f ind a few minutes to prime the other two tables in the nest i am working on - they look lovely shabbied up and will fit in my livingroom a treat.

On my marks - get set - go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh!! i forgot to ell you - got my statement in from Big horse bank ( the mortage bit i still cant get them to confirm how much is outstanding on the personal guarantee)

there is a positive balance of £579 in there, so i bit the bullet and transferred £46 - to make it add up to another 4 leaves on my moneytree. I have now saved £2000 towards paying my mortgage.:j:j:j

So thats the money flowing towards me easily then???

  • hi memory girl

have been reading your thread/diary with great enthusiam, really loving it all and find you truly inspiring (and amazingly funny). only about half way through at the moment so plenty to look forward to later today when i have done some work......so much to do and no idea which bit to make a start on. I have a house in need of total tlc , redecoration ,new carpets and curtains (furniture old but ok) and very little spare cash so will definately be reading all your ideas. This year i have made good progress on the grocery side of things but still room for more improvement , you seem to cook up things from nowhere, recipes look great too. good luck with the school and the painting, is it ok to pop back now and then for a gossip? feel a huge TO DO list coming on and a rumage around in the shed and garage to see what left over paints there are.

Where do you all start when you have an entire house to sort out? maybe after the list i may do the front garden .......weed n tidy up, as you said earlier about the front door....it looks a nice first impression. feeling inspired now
    bye bye for now

Nice one! Is that where we all go wrong, then??:rotfl:

Isn't it strange about the bank not wanting to confirm information to you about the guarantee?

    hi findingmyfeet

of course you can pop back in for a gossip at any time.

like you i have so much to do that i was literally paralysed and didn't want to / couldn't get going. now i've decided that seeing as most everything needs doing, and there's only me to do it that i will just pick oneplace and start from there.

i've decided to start inthe front door area - so yesterday i painted my half-finished door. now the rest of the area onthe outside looks a bit shabby so i'm going to clean and prime out there for a cuple of hours until the weather changes and see what difference i can make.

i will then move inside the door, and do every chore as i come to it - thats the plananyways until i get the bit between my teeth and come up with a better one.

at least this way something got done this weekend :T

so i'm off to use some leftover wood treatment on my trellis then try to find a small brush to hammerite my scruffy gate.

don't know about strange - more like par for the course. seems like one dept never knows what the other is doing. of course that went in my favour when they attempted repossession - so i am calmly fling my letters and waiting for the day i pay my mortgage off in cash :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just found some proper white gloss in my stash so looks like the door surround may get a once over one day too1111:T

Ps dinner tonight is shepherds pie and three veg (from the freezer stash)
