    I like the rocks story.

My weekend was good & bad. I cracked on with decluttering the attics and took had two trips to the tip. Unfortunately I had been under the misapprehension that there were just two bedrooms up there but actually it is a small country crammed with the detritus of the last thirty years. It is going to take more than one weekend to shift this lot.

Wanting a change from the attics I thought I'd have a look at a light downstairs that hasn't worked for ages. To do so I had to remove some pinecladding that the last owners put up. Once I could see the wiring, I could see I could rewire it but the wiring was old and damaged and really needed replacing so I went upstairs to the airing cupboard to lift some floorboards & look at it from above. In the process of doing that I spotted that we have a small but persistant leak from the hot water cylinder. Aaaargh!
Some days it feels like two steps forward and one step back although I suppose that is better than the other way round.

Helen - look at it as at least you are discovering things that are small problems. Not discovering a drip because it all went mouldy, or old wiring because it caught fire. It is a good thing.

I'm having a major tidy today. Its hard though with a 2 and 3 year old underfoot. The only thing i have been a bit ruthless with is the magazine rack. We had current and old copies of the yellow pages etc. I also found loads of magazines that were still in the plastic wrappings from when i had subscriptions. I threw a couple of unread ones in the recycling. They have been sat there at least 2 years. I could have passed them onto the SIL who is about to have a baby, but i know they are still in DIY hell trying to prepare for the birth next month, so i thought it kinder to not add to their mess.

I'm going for cleaner and a bit tidier, and i have put up two photos of the kids we had took months ago on the living room window sill and they are making me smile. :D
  • When i got up this morning and left me room to go into the hall I was so suprised at the amount of light bouncing around in there - it seems that the simple addition of a couple of coats of white primer makes a huge difference - its not dazzingly bright - but neither is is depressingly dismal.

A good start to a Monday morning.

I've got a SW breakfast on the go - Sliced potatoes sprayed with oil and roasted in the oven, served with poached egg and tomatoes (Free on Green)

Yesterday I did my one minute on the treadmill - today I need to run for 2 minutes (although someone mentioned a "couch potato to 5K" challenge that I may have to go and have a lookie at.

Raining here today but it can't dampen my fabulous mood. Child Benefit is in and today is shaping up to be a fantastic NSD.

I am going to enjoy updating my goals wall - and perhaps painting some more of the tables I am refurbishing.

Then I am gong to have a serious "scheduling session" where I take Coveys lead of "big rocks, litlle rocks, littlest rocks, gravel and sand" to fit all the fabulous stuff I get to do on the remainder of the 100 day challenge.

Lunch is going to be a thai noodle salad (HEB), with dinner being a chickpea and potato curry with rice and raitha (FREE ON GREEN), leaving me some syns for whatever I choose.

I am seriously excited about the frugal feasts that are gong to give me a fabulous figure - goal is to be 2lbs closer to desired weight by next Sunday morning.

Fill up on Free - SW Buddies

The couchpotato to 5k challenge is quite good they have a link on fb- i have looked at it and am trying to build up my level of fitness first with shred dvd- lose weight like yourself via SW to make it easier on the old legs and then go from there really.

Well it's a plan:D I too will be lighter by next week. I had lost weight before my break away, then came back thinking i had piled it all back on again and was chuffed it was only 3lbs of the 7 i had lost:j So don't feel too guilty about gourmet grub. It would have been rude not to eat it. lol So storecupboard challenge and tightening of belt was not as bad as i thought. :)

    Hi MG!

I also repainted some furniture at the weekend, going for the shabby chic look. It's so frustrating waiting for each coat to dry, I just want to get on with it!

Hope you keep the amazing levels of activity up, you'll have that house done in no time.

I've pretty much finished all my jobs for getting the house decent before we go away. Just a few more to do after tea.
Unfortunately food-wise it hasn't been good. I forgot it was a bit of a 'leftovers' day or 2 to finish up food before we went away..oh, well. I can start again on Wednesday when the holiday starts.

I really enjoyed the 'coffee story' Now just to think about prioritising the stuff in my life.

    Hola,

Not sure if they're any use to use but I've aquired a stack of new Abacus maths workbooks. They're basically 16 or 24 pages of colour illustrations with spaces for children to draw or write answers and trace over dotted numbers in order to help them with their writing. They're completely stand alone. I wondered if they'd be any use to your school, apparently my lot don't want them as they'd been chucked out for recycling despite retailing at £2 per book.

Early Years Workbook 2 - covers numbers from 1-5 with addition and subtraction using fish, ladybirds and cakes (I have 30 copies)

Number Workbook Reception 3 - covers numbers to 20, money and then numbers to 100 using animals hiding in hay bales, monkeys climbing trees and ice creams ( I have 24 of those)

Number Workbook 2 - Year 1 - Numbers to 100, odds, evens, pattersn, ordering and more work with money (2 copies)

Number Workbook 1 - Year 2 follows on with more complex addition, subtraction, symmetry and shapes (2 copies)

If you're happy to cover the cost of postage you're welcome to as many as you'd like.

thanks moo2moo, but the school uses a very different way of teaching maths.

thought i'd quote you in full just in case anyone else can find a home for them though???

    thanks again

I've got a little table with a drop cloth set up in the spare room. I just wiggle my way around the house and everytime I pass there and another coat is dry I slap one on the top. That way I'm not getting too frustrated IYSWIM.

Had a less "active day today" - decided to make use of the SW magazines that I had (and was saving to car-boot) an instead took a craft knife and cut out all the recipes that I thought "YUM!!!!". Got the kids to stick them on blank sheets of paper, punched holes then divided into Breakfast, Lunch, and snacks in a file.

DS1 then flipped through the file and produced enough recipes for lunch and dinner up until weigh in on Sunday Morning. Apart from some eggs and some low-fat cheese I have pretty much everything in stock so its not too damaging to the budget.

Also cut out loads of pictures of the ladies featured in the magazine in all their slimline glory and am in the middle of pasting them onto three blank canvases I have in my kitchen. I'm intending that their postive role-model powers will rub off on me when cooking for the family and keep me on track for a fabulous figure.

    Let the party commence :T
