What about Natural History Musuem and the Science centre, they are almost next door to each other and a spit from South Kensington tube station ? http://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit-us/getting-here/index.html

Thats a good idea - just need to figure out how much money to give him for his travelling.

Can youtell its been nearly 10 years since I lived in London??

Thanks for the offer of the Oystercard ClootiesMum. Can I check how they work? I need to move 2 grown-ups and two 9 year olds around London. Does that mean 4 Oystercards, or can you charge them up and "share" IYSWIM???

BTW Neighbour has just been in and gifted me a Breville Piemaker!!! She says I am the only person she knows who uses her gadgets and wonders if I fancy it.

Now the frugal side to me says - YES!!! leftovers = Pies = lunches for DS1 at school next year - but as usual I have loads of questions - so off to the OS board I go.

    Pie Ideas

    Corned beef Hash
    Cornish Pasty Filling
    Tomato, mozzarella and basil
    Caremelised onions and goats cheese
    Veggies in cheese sauce
    3 Bean Chilli
Chicken and leek, or mushroom or any veg
    POtato and bacon
    Sausage and Apricot
    Spicy Lamb with Beans
    Lamb and Mint
    Lamb Tagine
    Pork n prune
    Ham n cheese
    Ham n chicken
    Sausage, caremilised onion and mash
    Haggis, neeps n tatties
    Chicken olive and preserved lemon
    Salmon and fennel
    Smoked Haddock n black pudding
    Caremilised onion, anchovy and olive
    Salmon and spinach
    Roasted vegetables and cheddar
    Roasted red pepper and tomato
    Calzone stylee

Then of course I could do a whole lot of fruit pies for puddings too.

Even a sweet and a savoury pie every wek in his lunchbox might make the gadget worth hangin onto.

OK MG - just spoken to friend just back from London & children under 10 get the Underground for free so you would only need 2 Oystercards for the adults (but her oldest is 8 so I would just double check this). If the kids do need cards then you do need one each though.
    Hope this helps

And I keep meaning to ask the name of the capsule wardobe Gok Wan book as my work gave me Amazon vouchers for my birthday....

And if the kids are going on the London Eye then I bought one of the guides for it - you can also borrow that if you want (I think they cost about £4 if they want to buy one though)

Chicken and veg pie - i made a great one at the weekend with leftover roast chicken, 2 diced carrots, about half a broccoli head and some chicken gravy. Went down a treat here. I think i would get good use out of a pie maker. :rotfl:

Sounds like you have been getting some great ideas for their trip to London. Most of the musuems are free and have lots of activities for children going on. Musuem of London is another good choice.

I have got some 2 for 1 vouchers for entry into UK's Top Attractions (ie. Legoland, Thorpe Park, Warwick Castle, Chessington, Alton Towers etc). If you would like them, let me know and I can pop them in the post for you.

They sure are going to have lots of fun!

Hi MG - I am a lurker most of the time but was just reading the Sunday Paper and it had an article on the Best London Travel trips which was interesting:

Sandpits in the City - Coram's fields behind Great Ormond Street Hospital are seven acres of play areas - sandpits, paddling pool, playground and slides - plus veggie cafe. There's also a pet's corner and a sensory Garden.

Victoria and Albert Museum - walk through the Shop, out in to the Courtyard and the kids can paddle in the huge shallow pool (if the weather is good!) - Adults can enjoy the outside cafe....

Try booking a tour of the Houses of Parliament (free!) via your local MP.......probably not ideal as you are in Scotland

St martin in the Fields - just off Trafalgar square has a crypt cafe - open all day seven days a week and serves Breakfast, Lunch afternoon teas and dinner.

    Might be of use.........

Woohooo!!! a lunch you don't have to cook yourself - and you don't have to wash up after either:j:j:j:j

Just had a phone call and my mate from Brum is driving up today to\pick up a car in Perth tomorrow - which leaves me exactly 7 hours to put this entire house back into some semblence of order.

OMG - where is my kitchen Timer. We are in need of desperate motivation (and a bottle of cider for when he arrives).

Oh I wish I had a flylady house - it looks more like a fly tip at the moment:(
