Good luck with everyone's 100 day chalenges!
I need to think about mine a bit more......
You sound very swish my dearI'm sat here in balck trousers and pink shirt today but I bought myself a pretty skirt and top today to jazz my wardrobe up!
Auntie Gok would be so proud. I remember a friend of my Mums once telling me that it was respectful to myself to dress well and "put on a face" every day. Used to think !!!!!!?? who's got time, but now I can pick from a few pieces and slap on some mineral make-up I do feel better for making myself a priority.

Hi there,
just to say that 1,104 words were written today. A good start of challenge, I think. On the other hand some crisps were consumed which is not very good for fast running.
Firewalker0 -
Spent a good hour on the phone with my Mentor this morning.
The short version is:
1. .Need to get decent broadband into the house - so that I can do Skype calls, video conferencing and web stuff as we progress.
So I have almost persuaded my dongle supplier to let me off with half of my contract - really bad and really slow in this area. Costs me £14.99 per month.
BB supplier can put a new line in and give me 15Meg BB, a router and phone bundle for £21.00 per month for 24 months. So I will be spending £6.00 more per month but should have a decent service and be ready to rock n roll within the month.
2. My borrowed laptop is really on its last legs - rather than buy another I have found a local shop that might be able to strip it down, reinstall what I actually use and speed it up. Priority will be to generate enough money for a new Laptop and projector combo for speaking work. Leaving the laptop in the house for actual "writing" and "spreadsheeting"
3. Told him about "Aunty Gok" - turns out they actually met at my Mentors Book Launch and they got a bit naughty (not drunk or anything - just a bit !!!!!y people watching).
4. Decided to look at Staff Development Departments in Universities as my first target group for my 2 half day sessions. In the morning do Memory and Speed Reading, with the afternoon session being Mind Mapping and Study Skills. Run these over two days a week or apart so that the staff can allocate just half a day each week to their CPD.
So I am in the middle of drawing up my One-sheet info pack and a list of who to contact in each of the Universities. Would offer these out at £750 per half-day session, which could make each session only £15 - £20 per person.
My first target is to find ten Universities that want to play. So far I got St Andrews and possibly Abertay - so a pretty good start.
Oooh!!! its a bit scary when you actually commit to taking action isn't it?????????????
So who works in a Uni and can scare up the name of their Staff Development Officer?? My Mentor thinks it would be a cool idea to send them a hand-drawn Mind Map outline of my proposal alongside a one-sheet.
Whattdoyathink????
Bonus of the day was buying 3 packets of Pasta flour for 80p at local farm shop and the owner throwing in another 3 bags for free:j Loads of raviolli in my future I think.
Oh i can't wait to get back to work!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you everyone for getting me as far as this - and I know we have a long way to go, but I actually see a future for me and the boys now. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!

I'm afraid the bad news is that I work at Leeds and they already run a course on Handling Information Overload split into two parts Memory Training and Speed Reading & Mind Mapping. I went on it in 2005 & enjoyed it. In 2005 it was run by David Creasey of Creating Value Ltd, if you know him.
The other bad news is that we are faced with a 25% cut in funding so are under pressure to find things to cut so it might not be the best time to target universities. Still you can but try.
Love the 100 day challenge by the way.0 -
i dont know but i feel kinda sad about the fact auntie gok would spend his time being B!t(hy about people ...
you see i think for me personally ... looks and dress really arnt important ... they dont define a person ... and to sit in judgement of some one because of what they wear is a sad reflection of what they must think they need for themselves .... caring about what others think of you yes it shouldnt be ignored ... but at the end of the day it should not dictate to you how you feel or behave ...
maybe i have it wrong though ... maybe i am just happy in my own skin and dont feel the need to glamourise myself for someone else's approval0 -

He is DS1's Godfather - small world innit. I wonder how he is over in France right now - looks really hot.

I only need to find another 8 Univeristies - only another eight in the whole of this big wide world. I'm sure the opportunities will flow if we are doing the right thing.
And I have to believe that cuts mean that people are looking for better value for money - and higher returns on their spend.
The reason I want to re-touch Universities is that the Govt have stared to talk about accelerated degrees. Doing one in 2 years in stead of 4. A couple of the local Uni's have been looking at doing just that - quicker turnaround of students, more options for foreign students, less debt for students as they only have to fund 2 yrs etc.
We've already worked with the OU and proved that the 15 hours per week needed to study for a degree (actually reported to me as being more like 22) can be cut to about 8 hours instead. Of course for the OU they also had a cut in the attrition rate of the students who used the programme because they were better able to integrate the studying into their "real lives" - so everyone benefits.
Next target sector will have to be "those who's jobs depend on them learning whilst working" - I'm thinking Lawyers, Accountants, IFA's, teachers too I suppose etc. Those who canill afford to "Forget" most of the training they attend.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
In the meantime I'm sending a plea to the Universe to send me the people I need to secure me 10 s 2 * 2 sessions in Universities.
" I believe that in my network are the people who can bring the gift of the joy of effective and easy learning to 10 Groups with our Universities worldwide"
Time to pull the plan together for tomorrow.

Looking at Universities is a good idea - except for the funding scare and the fact that as a result they might be a bit apprehensive of letting stuff out. It is not only staff training - most serious Universities have training programmes for PhD students - in fact we spend more on that than on staff. Will make some enquiries and will let you know - possibly message you.
I am a very scary magnet with influence.
