Righto!! so you were a studen - you are now a business builder. Lets take this step by step -as fast or as slow as you like.

    Step 1.

Lets assume that everything and everyone you need to grow a fabulous business is already known to you. The Universe has already conspired to make those perfect people part of your network. Your job is to find them.

So lets create a list of 250 people that you know. Look at all the different networks you can rub noses with.

    Uni pals
    Uni lecturers
    Uni Staff
    Mummy !!!!!
    Schol contacts
    Friends Family
    Doctors, Dentist
    Alternative practionners
    Vets
Hobbies - horses, gym, running clubs
    Local Gardening clubs or alotmenteers
Youth Clubs for kids - their sports
Business networks - people who make money when you make money
    Your Hairdresser (they know everybody)
    Local Shop keepers
    Local Newspaper people
    Librarians

Go on - you get the idea - anyone you so much as smile at and know their name (or can gettheir name) in your local community.

Let me know when you have your list.

    Memorygirl

PS I'm off to do mine as well - although my list is less local and more international to get the business I need.

    Hey elantan

I used to have hypnotherapy for my IBS which worked spectacularly well. I had it at uni so some sessions of counselling were mixed in as well during stressful periods such as exams. It strikes me that your mix of skills in counselling and more physical relaxation techniques alongside hypnotherapy are *really* useful and valuable. I would have loved a combined programme of these 3. I wonder if you could set up other 'specialist' areas other than stopping smoking such as IBS or other chronic conditions (especially those related to stress)?

I haven't been to hypnotherapy since uni, perhaps it might be useful to tell you some of the barriers why? (Although just to make it confusing I am back at uni again for the third time but not the same one)!

    1. Cost
    2. Cost (although my local alternative therapy place has a special discount day for the unemployed and students where you pay what you can afford I am too ashamed to go there on this day as I feel as a funded student I should just be paying properly)
    3. Getting around to it (putting my own needs at the bottom of the pile which I think a lot of times women in particular do)
    4. Sort of afraid to meet new people as explaining problems is quite intimate and embarrassing. What if the therapist is extremely eccentric? Where will I have to go - will it be in their house? What if their house smells weird! etc. I probably sound really neurotic now!

Perhaps that helps in some way in thinking about promoting yourself? I would have loved it if a hypnotherapist could have come to my house, although I see that there are many reasons why that wouldn't be good for you, including all those I mentioned above plus safety. Although there might be groups like new mums that it might be very helpful for.

 Hi ladies, sorry for OT-ing your thread MG!

Your right MG there are no coincidences, I even met an experienced hypnotherapist in Tesco's. She has been fantastic giving me her time and phone number. Stage hypnosis is totally different. On stage it's entertainment, hypnotherapy is about listening to the client, you have to care about people to do a good job. But that's not to say all hypnotherapist are nice. Someone was asked to leave the course I was on because he just wanted to make money from people even if he knew he could'nt help he would still take there money.
I'm loving the list idea:T my problem is I moved 30 miles when I married and still live my social life over there. I do have a fan base where I worked as I helped them give up smoking, so I have been giving the business cards and they have bought friends over. I was thinking of facebook page for my hypno, son's idea(17), then it does cover friends of friends.
Elatan, wow is there no end to your talents. I'm worried about the colonic irrigation  I have done Rieki level 1, but I get bored quickly
Larahoust, I work from home, and have 3 cats so I do worry if the house smells of cats. I keep the cats out of the hypno room, open windows and spray oust, so I hope it's ok. The trouble with going to someones house is all the distractions, and the cost would be more to pay for time and fuel when traveling. I would advise you to find someone recomended,or have a chat to them over the phone, have a list of question to check them out. I offer a free phone consultation . I also have my picture on my website and tried to look as normal as possible :rotfl:
