I just want to add my congratulations to Robert Edwards I must admit I did smile when MG said she had slept with him. Without him I wouldn't have had any children of my own :A

    HI All,

and is it reasonable to claim some of my electricity bill against my accounts for preparation work I do at home?

    Sx

I am assuming you work for yourself. If so then yes...you can claim either the standard £3 per week use of home without question from the inland revenue or you can portion out your home bills as to square footage and how long you use your house.

If you would like me to do you an estimate that the inland rev will accept then pm me otherwise just use the £3 per week....:D

Sorry probably my fault for being greedy and getting the 'two for the price of one offer' twice :D can't say it was very :money: though as lots of attempts especially for the youngest ones ;) and we were successful on what was to be our very last attempt so the universe ran it to the wire :rotfl:

  • Hi, sorry I've not posted before and I admit I still haven't found time to read the whole thread so I apologise in advance if this information has been given out already but....

My DS has a SLD, although 19, mental age of 9/10 but speech & language comprehension, reading & writing are where he struggles most and has a very poor memory. Are any of the mind map books likely to be suitable for me to teach him and where can I purchase them from? Tried Amazon but only one found by MG were for business. Can anyone help please?

PS..Anyone looking to purchase 'The Secret', on offer at Amazon at almost 1/3rd of original cost.

    TIA

    Hi,

Thanks for this. I think I will just stick to the £3 if they Inland Revenue are ok with it. This is my little business I already run, as well as my "normal" job. Try to keep my tax return as simple as possible!!!!!

Late on tonight - sorry. New bit on the blog from Mr Big though.

Had a "home visit" from ds1's teacher tonight. Lovely Dutch lady who adored our rissotto with pea and parmesan.

Shes not a fan of HT husband though - so its not just me then:D

Rather than risk an hour in the dark and the cold waiting for a bus I offered her a lift home - kids all bundled up, ds2 in his jammies and coat (cute:))

DS1 had a huge meltdown on the way home. Sobbing his heart out that his Dad doesn't keep in touch - ds2 called over from his car seat "***** don't worry!!!"

My heart is now officially broken for him. :(I've just sat for an hour cuddling him on the sofa, explaining that it was nothing he had done (he was only 6 months old when his Dad decided he'd had enough and got on a plane to SA). That Mum was trying her best to take him out to spend time with the ther half of his family (I've taken him out 3 times in 9 years, his Dad as never made a trip to see him) -

How can I explain to a young 10 year old that his father simply can't be bothered keeping in touch with him and can't be bothered contributing to his upbringing (nope - not a penny since he went) - without coming off as a screaming hariden?

The thing is I would love to take him out there again to see his family - but having just been credit crunched, saved the house from being repossesed and fighting the good fight to get back to work I am terrified of making him a promise I might not be able to deliver on.

Grumble over - time for a stiff drink, an early night and come out all guns blazing in the morning.

Also will price flights to SA and cost of renting accomodation for a few weeks next summer. In for a penny and all that -

....................come on then universe ..............show me how to make my lad happy again.

We have 2 spare bedrooms ;)

And a large wooden hippo too. So it's just the flights.
But can you bring some football kits in your luggage? ;)
