  • Welcome to super whizzy quick BB MG!!

Wow to Claire - I hope you didn't let them screw you on price!

Marathon... Yuck, but go for it. Make sure you get a justgiving page set up and tell us when we can sponsor you! The TMIF holiday fund is recommended ;) I'm sorry, but I don't even think I could run for 15 minutes. I am so hideously unfit :(

I am still astounded at the things which happen in here, and I should be getting used to it by now... It's all lovely!

Progress on college: I am going to see the tutor on Monday, but I think I am going to do the easier one. At least then, when I tackle the advanced one, I will be confident that my basic knowledge is up to scratch. They don't do a quick summary day for those starting the advanced one... so I think that's decision made. Comments welcome :) Am happy to practice by doing tax returns for you...!

I am also thinking of going back to teaching!! I qualified straight after uni, but hated it. I was chatting to one of the lecturers at work yesterday, and they need someone to teach on their 1st Year Financial Accounting Module - so I think I might do it! £40 an hour! Whack it off the mortgage! Yay!

Haven't we all had exciting weeks. Its fun being here!

Actually, all we need is for 36 members of the matrix to do 15 mins each for us, and we both get our 4hr 30 time easily.

    Whaddya reckon :rotfl:

Sounds like a good plan - but then again I don't think I could do 1.5 miles in 15 minutes - but good luck to you and Kavics and anyone else who said they are doing it :)

    Exciting news tellmeitsfriday!

And well done to Claire! :T :T What on earth is someone going to do with 120 pairs of earrings?? (well, actually, I assume it won't *all* be for one person, but that's what first crossed my mind! :o :rotfl:)

Glad you're all dongled out and set up properly MG! I'm more than happy to do a raving testimonial once my book arrives! :T Very excited! :T

Hypno - I'm reckoning 15 mins each for the marathon is doable :T I'm just about to head out now - do we all have to do them on the day of the marathon, or can you start adding up in advance and taking the best times?? :rotfl:

In the spirit of positivity, I was asked by work if I'd like to do any extra yesterday :T I've been doing this job for 4 months, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, but only work 2 days a week on my project. They did mention there'd potentially be other work on other projects (it all waits til the appropriate funding is in, none is guaranteed) - and yesterday I got asked if I was still interested, what extra days I wanted to do and when from :T :T :j

VERY exciting - only trouble of course is making up my mind! :rotfl: PhD MUST get finished, preferably before Christmas and DEFINITELY before the end of January. Think I've made up my mind, but it is lovely to be asked! :T Strange though, you're all off building your own empires, and here's me volunteering to potentially work full time when I always vowed I'd do no such thing, and don't even need to! :rotfl: But it will be on two separate projects, funded by different people (and working with different people) but at the same place, and the current one ends in about 15 months, so there'll be a bit of an overlap... I'm so excited!

Now, if the universe could just help me along with a few PhD-finishing vibes we'd be laughing! :rotfl:

I am so thrilled about all the news, especially your big order Claire. And to the marathon runners - WOW!! What an awesome achievement. MG so glad your laptop is playing nice again.

So today is my last full day in London before I head off to Kampala tomorrow eve. My friends have made a really big effort to see me and give me a nice send-off so I am feeling very loved :D Here's to the next 8.5 weeks of PhD fieldwork. Thanks for that quote about the mosquito that's amazing :T

Wow Claire, thats a huge order hun. So pleased for you :T

MG - happy new broadband. Glad the lappy is now working too.

Right, I'd best admit to also having a marathon place next year. Unlike others, I'm not a runner. In fact, I'm at least 5 stone overweight and get out of breath putting my shoes on. Heaven knows what made me apply.

Actually, I know why I applied - I watch it every year and long to be able to achieve something so amazing. Plus, i want to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation - I lost both of my parents to heart attacks when they were still relatively young (38 and 46)

Anyway, the support and advice of some very good friends and the inspiration you lot give me every day has made me determined to have a go.

I dont have a time in mind. I just want to finish it. Run fat girl run :D

  • Thanks to you all, I have been struck with the most amazing urge to set up a website selling my photographs....

But i'm really nervous about it, firstly i have no faith in my work at all (serious confidence issues), secondly would anyone buy photographs off the internet....but i'm a little bit excited about it too:T. Even if i sold one photo a month it's better than my pictures sitting on the hard drive of my P.C.

Quick opinions needed, Would you buy from internet? Would you prefer framed or mounted? What would you like to see photo's of?

Argh, Look what you've done MG - your turning a SAHM into a little business entrepreneur and i'm petrified and excited all at the same time! Can i really do this....?

  • Lara please do take care with the mosquitoes

A group of my friends are off to Kampala next Wednesday and then up north to Lira I really wish it was me but I need to go in the Ugandan school holidays to see the sponsored children so no point going now just have to be patient until May.

I am sure you will have a great time I will pm you with the email contact in Kampala.

I reckon that you wouldn't want me dragging your average down actually .

Well done to everyone on here :T, can't keep up with the good news & MG glad your lappy has succumbed to your will :)

This place is totally amazing. I was feeling a bit down this morning (mostly because of the weather and some other stuff going on), but pop on here, read through stuff, and bingo, I am feeling brimming with positivity! :D

MG, glad to see your lappy is behaving itself. My hubby threatens our lappy with being taken to bits and put back together again, and invariably it starts working again! :D

Clairewop, what a FANTASTIC order for you. Well done! (And incidentally, I am even more impressed at your creations when you say - or imply- that you are making them with one hand?!!! I couldn't do that with four pairs of hands!! :D Totally in awe!)

Marathon runners, you are completely and totally bonkers... but well done! When I was created, it was not speed they had in mind!! I could NEVER do 26 miles of running. Hell, I couldn't do 26 miles of walking!!

Right... off to do my day job (blah) and plan a lovely weekend for my hubby and me. :) Next weekend is going to be stressful as we are spending it with my parents and my sister. We are supposed to be celebrating 70th birthdays of Mum and Dad... but things get very stressful with them very quickly, so I am not looking foward to it much! :( So, I have decided we need to have a nice weekend this weekend to make up for that! :D

    Have a great one peeps!

Hehe I do have 2 arms :) but my one arm don't work propery cause i have cerebral palsey, so sometimes I spend ages chasing the pins around in circles trying to get them to close on the earrings other day i can do it strainght away :)
