Morning everyone. Just trying to catch up before I head off to work.

MG- you are actually going to meet Mr Big. That is such exciting news :j (as my dd1 would say I bet you're buzzing). I hope us ladies (and gents) will get to hear all about it.

Clairewop- I'm loving your jewellery, roll on pay day then I can get some towards my girlies Xmas pressies.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Sending positive energy to you all.

    Thankyou

    Well good morning

we have rain here at the moment although it is trying to brighten up.

went back to bed this morning cause i was feeling shaky, now i have a headache coming.

last box to sort in the dining room but I'm not sure whether I can sit that long at the dining room table today to do it.

might pop to asda and do some cooking instead, and have a few hours updating the website.

Clairewop - sweetie, you really should reconsider your prices, we're all telling you we'd be prepared to pay more :) You're set up on the internet as a business, and as such, it's better to charge what a "big business" would charge, or maybe very slightly less to undercut the competition, than to undervalue yourself. You may see yourself as a woman with certain challenges, drowing in a sea of boxes in your dining room, but customers on the internet, see beautiful jewellery, hand-made with love and will be willing to pay the market rate, including postage charges.

As you can see on this thread, there are lots of us and if we all tell our friends who want to buy your gorgeous jewellery, and they tell their friends etc etc, then if you are priced at X and then put the prices up to X+10% for example, then business might drop off. Also, remember that there will be many, many lurkers reading this thread who are likely to click on your homepage - all potential customers......

(Here endeth the lecture, and I hope I've not stepped on your toes, it's all said with admiration of your great business) xx
  • Hi, MG,

Will be thinking of you on Monday teatime. Let’s hope you aren’t too excited to eat! Hotel teas are one of my favourite things – and this one will be so special.

The Universe seems to be having a grumpy day today. We were suppposed to be en-route to Strasbourg but the French are on strike and only half the Paris - Strasbourg trains are running: ours isn’t in the right half. (Grrr.) Luckily DH heard about the strike on the news this morning, so we didn’t have a wasted journey to St Pancras. We’ve managed to rebook for the same time tomorrow and contact the owner of the flat we’ve rented for the week, so it’s a nuisance rather than a disaster. Every cloud has a silver lining: I managed to get the last coat on the hall ceiling this morning!

  • Clairewop - I have to agree with Kittikins, your stuff is beautiful and knowing that its hand-made, I know that like so many others have said I would certainly be prepared to pay more (and yes we should pay postage as well). Don't sell yourself short.
Don't Judge anyone until you've walked a mile in their shoes......

  • MG, all the best for Monday, will be waiting with bated breath to hear the outcome!

Claire, sorry I didn't answer sooner, it took me a while to catch up again! I agree with the others, people are saying they would pay more so take their word for it and up your prices! Beter to do it at the start, if you get a lot of customers and then put your prices up later it might put them off again! Liked the website, it looks professional, I agree about the UK/US spelling though (bit of a stickler for that sort of thing) and also wondered if you needed to have your logo/name quite so much over the photos in the gallery section, there is so much writing over the photos it kind of detracts from your work IYSWIM? You could also add a new section with the other services you are about to offer ie, children's parties, workshops etc. Agree with going for a niche market like Goths etc, they have money to spend and not that many places to buy stuff. I also wondered about children's jewellery, I've noticed that lots of places (supermarkets, toy shops) have started to sell stuff for little girls, beaded bracelets and necklaces, little charms etc, have a look around and you'll see what I mean. If you could string some bright and cheery beads on a bit of hat elastic you can sell that for £2 or £3 as a bracelet. Good luck! Wish I had as many ideas for my work!

  • just stopped for lunch - business coach has nipped out to do some chores and i am sitting here trembling.

its been a long long time since i had to think so hard - or so quickly - or justify my assumptions. out of practice girlie here.

however, he is making a lot of sense and the numbers are beginning to emerge - and some of the things he sees as "must haves" - like an online course i already have 95% finished - as it in is written and formatted and ready to add the audio and visual into then off we go.

this afternoon he asked me complete a "one-sheet" of the "Students Survival guide" weekend training day. a complete outline of the benefits, content, price and booking info. challenges galore:D

better grab my juice and get back to work soon -

    send me some inspiration please
