Morning all.
I have had such a great day so far. I stayed up until 1am reading Eat, Pray, Love, and fell asleep while reading it. So when I woke up this morning, I just picked up where I left off. And finished it. And loved it. And read every single word. (Though some of them, I read twice because I was still a bit tired). What a totally incredible book. I can't see how it is going to be turned into a movie without losing some of the essentials... but I think I am going to love that as well.
Oh, and I also read MG's books - cos I asked for both of them. They are great. I am definitely going to pass them along to some friends of mine who are going to benefit from them equally.
So today, I am going to do a bit of cleaning and then hubby and I are going into town to do some shopping, and watch some ice hockey. I love ice hockey. It is fast, it is exciting and it is usually unspeakably violent. I like that in a sport. Plus, it is from my childhood. Ice Hockey is the unofficial sport of Canada which is where I grew up. (The official sport of Canada is actually Lacrosse. Not a lot of people know that.) So, very happy memories for me.
Have a lovely, wonderful day everyone. Take care."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

You sound on top of the world crickett
I can't wait till I get paid and hopefully have some money left to get MG's books
Although the decluttering and refurninshing the house is not going to plan. We seem to be having disaster after disaster.
1st disaster last friday was after the kitchen was decluttered and was ready for painting the paint we had here had gone off, so off we toddle to b&q to get paint. The walls were half painted where dh could reach without a ladder
2nd disaster last fri tile spray just came back off wall when touched ( worked out why though the dregs at the bottom of the bottle was just colored spray with no laquer to hold it on the tile) so some of the tiles need wiping off and doing again.
3rd disaster yesterday white paint for ceiling gone off as dh was putting it on the ceiling it was dripping back off onto the cupboards floor etc. another trudge to b&q to get ceiling paint.
4th disaster today dh took masking tape off walls after the ceiling was painted and it took the paint back off with itso all the walls have to be re touched back up
also some paint off the ceiling.
Can anything else go wrong?Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Morning all, what lovely posts there are on here today.
Lucielle, what a shame that these challenges have stirred up some difficult memories for you. Sometimes people forget that not everybody's childhood was as idyllic as their own. Instead of thinking about your childhood, think about things that have made your heart soar at other times in your life, even if it was just a moment. The thing about happiness is that sometimes that "moment" is so fleeting that we miss it because we are bogged down with the serious stuff.
Kites - well, this is a funny thing because since I moved here I have been intrigued by kites. There are lots of people flying kites on the beach and surfkiting too, I sit and watch for hours. My OH told me that he spent a glorious day flying kites there for a friends birthday several years ago, so for his birthday I bought him a kite.
Bubbles, always have bubbles in the house, I am kind of a frivolous soul who likes to be a big kid at heart often.
Reading - Enid Blyton - oh what fun, I also loved Mrs Pepperpot but nobody ever seems to remember her. The Faraway Tree was magical and I would highly recommend it for 6 year olds. I also remember my teacher Mrs Tate reading The Flight of the Doves to us each day for 15 minutes at the end of the class. I still have the copy that I asked for that Christmas and I can be found reading it too sometimes.
Have a happy frivolous Saturday everybody.
Crickett - what a wonderful birthday. xSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
