I'm another one who recommends BT over Talktalk, for the same kind of reasons as above :)

I was posting a cheery, can't wait for you to come back and tell us of your success with the accountant kind of message and had a powercut, so lost it all - and lo, here you are!

Right - if anyone wants a qualified chaperone, I'm your gal after 4pm today, off to spend 3 hours learning the fine art of chaperoning, CRB certificates a-plenty :) Have added it to my map for ideas on how I can work term-times only!

That sounds interesting, what kind of chaperone work will you be doing.

    Hi Memory Girl!

There's recently been a lot of chat about you on Hypno's thread, so I thought I would drop by and see what all the fuss was about. I've just seen your challenges, and I'm impressed -well done! I'll drop by to read a bit more when I get the chance.

Until then, take care and carry on carrying on! ;)

  • I would have to recommend BT as well for broadband - I know you're not meant to be loyal & to shop around but BT come out to fix wires brought down by trees with no problem - and as I'm still in a ruralish place (& you probably come into this too) I like the comfort of having people who can fix things for me

  • have you looked into plusnet? They are good (I picked them for my dad when he was looking around)

Talktalk are IMO a crock of S.... well you know

I am very happy with BT - I pay £13pm for their BB Option 2.

I did a quick thread search for "violin" and the only hit I could find for one being offered was by Firewalker for a 1/4 sized one.

MG, he will probably need 1/2 size then, but if I were you I'll ask a violin teacher. BTW this is a pitty because I have a 1/4 one which I was going to offer. Also, buying children's violins is best done through schools and music teachers - it will likely cost you about £20 - but once you have one you can exchange it.

Good luck in all that - how does your son feel about playing the violin?

At one point we had a super violin on loan from a local charity, who had instruments they loaned to local children free of charge. It could be worth looking into local charities.

Otherwise why not try an ad on freecycle.
  • in the end talk-talk won. got the talk-talk essential package for £19.03 per month which has 40gb download limit - we don't use nearly that.

worked out cheaper than bt - and you pay them £12.04 for the line rental and £6.99 for the calls and broadband package.

engineer due othe 30th - so fingers crossed.

plusnet don't do up here - and no cable service here either so only the choice of two.

so taking into account - new line installation, phone and broadband bundle its about £5 per month cheaper with talktalk - although i have 14 days to change my mind, or 30 days after installation.

lets see what they can do.
