I did some mind maps today, I'm reading ahead for my PGCE which starts in a week. I love them they're so colourful and fun to make and much faster than boring linear notes. I am planning to only use MMs to take notes in my lectures etc this year.
what a great use - and i bet you will be able to use them for years to come because it will so easy to find the information you need.
I definitely think you can put the price up. I have on my desk a very similar book to yours by Tony Buzan and the RRP is £12.99. If you sell yours for £10, you're saying to the world: I'm the poor man's Tony Buzan... I'm like Tony Buzan but slightly worse quality... IYKWIM?
........... and i look so much better in a skirt and high heels than he does :rotfl::rotfl:
Of course, a lot of us are DFWs so you can sell to us lot at a slightly discounted rate, yes?Quote code "MRB1G" at the checkout :rotfl:
That is soooooo funny - but i wonder what kind of website would use that as a promo code :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

MG
Hi Memorygirl,
I doubt scaring you was the intention - it is true. I already mentioned that even in my field the top people can get up to £55-60,000 for a key note. Include some preparation time - this is still hell of a lot per hour. What is different about them is that they have, without exception, written a best-seller.
It is possible - even more importantly you could do it. But it is more likely to get there if you really open your mind to this possibilities. Is there any exercise in the personal development tool box that helps you started aiming higher and thinking bigger (sorry I am new to this trade)?

Sorry, but can we have a balance here. For some people a PhD is a definite positive step that is essential for the career path they want to pursue, and is not a matter of insecurity etc.
I do think that lots of people select degree courses, masters & PhD's at a time when they are maturing as adults, so people do change their objectives due to change in personal circumstances or actually emotional changes due to life experiences whilst doing the courses.
I don't have a PhD, but I do know of someone working towards one, and it is a step on a definite career path, and one that can't be skipped, it is also being thoroughly enjoyed as it's in a field they really enjoy.
As Cheery Daff said, the decision was "right at the time". I very much live in the idea of if it's the right decision based on all the available information at the time, what more can you do?0 -

MG, whether you started your business alone or with others, and we would all support you whatever your choice, I am sure that the person who sent you that big cheque, is very intelligent and a fantastic investor, who has spotted a wonderful opportunity. Their motive would have been pure too.
All investments carry a risk and your investor was prepared to risk that money on you, and I would have accepted it, but it's your choice. That would be your wages, while you created an amazing business. You could ask your investor what they wanted as a reward for their risk and see if you were prepared to accept that answer.
My feeling is that, to be blunt, your business failed last time, so you have to do things differently this time. You are supposed to be YES woman xxxxxxxxx.
Rember Mr Big's post:-
Most importantly I want you to start saying, “Yes” to every offer of help that people make to you. I want you to start accepting assistance with good grace – until you are happy receiving help – how can you be the one offering help from a position of strength and stability. Every offer of help made to you is made honourably and with the best for all concerned – accept in the manner it is given.
Firewalker really helped me move forward, when she suggested that I needed to confront my fears, which is really scary. What are you afraid of? DC, Micron, Firewalker and Cheri, helped me with this and I am sure they can help you too. I sense you have a fear of being indebted to people.
Off now for the weekend, catch up Tuesday xx. I only posted these two posts because Mr Big asked if there was anything we could do to help, so I thought I'd give it a try.
i think you may have given me another AHA moment my dear - and to examine why i had such a strong reaction to the very generous offer of help.
my business was lost when we were given a "30 day wonder" - that is 30 days to pay off all our borrowings from the bank. the business wasn't in particuarily bad shape - only one property out of 18 was empty at the time - but the money was demaded during the whole freeze on borrowing period of the current recession.
however good the properties, however much equity in them (conservative estimate of 400K), however good the tenants, in the 30 day period, although we found people willing to buy the properties, they couldn't pull togther 1.7 million in time.
so the bank took the lot - and my childrens future with it (so i thought), because for 6 years ever penny went into that business and i took the very minimum out. then as you know - they tried to repossess, but got thrown out of court.
Now i see owing money as a very risky startegy - a strategy that left me standing in the bank with 71p and three nappies and a witch of a bank teller saying to my 9 yr old that mum was going to lose his home because she now had no money.
somehow i have got that one event tied in my head to the borrowing of money - which is (with my intellectual head on) very short sighted and narrow minded. in fact one of my mission statements is to make back all of that money and more wthout recourse to bank borrowing.
.................... which was the opportunity the universe sent me, wasn't it???? Only I couldn't see that.
The money offered could actually cover all the stuff i need to be back in business
a data projector
a decent portable screen
a new suit to present in
a broadband connection to the house
a website with audio and visual content
a few business cards
................... a whole checklist of stuff - that I don't have the resources to purchase yet (which is just a fancy way of saying i've got a perfect excuse not jump in feet first and commit, because - i don't have the equipment :eek:)
sometimes i can be such a twonk!!!! thank you for pointing it out in such a lovely way though ButterflyDawn.
think i need to go and rethink the offer don't i??
belly hell - this stuff is hard isn't it????

So, "toxic" stuff doesn't have to be the big stuff.....it is anything that you feel bothered by, get niggled by, or that generally just doesn't make you feel the way you *want* to feel.
so with you there hypno - used to hate coming home because of my scruffy front door.
got rid of the baby for an afternoon and painted it pillar box red - and i love it. the good energy from the front door is now working its way through the house as i get rid of those niggly little annoying jobs.
