Think I crossed posted with a few people but glad to see I'm not the only one having trouble with the figures. I have every faith in Memorygirl to run a successful business, she's done it before after all but all the usual business start-up guidelines always advise against over-valuing the business.

I can't imagine the price of a book is going to come near the hourly rate and packing it up, writing addresses and going to the post office to post it would take most of the hour.

Hypno - it IS a big number - when I first worked it out I was pleasantly suprised but soon realised I'd worked out my figure on my monthly figure, not my annual one

    Then it was scary

This is quite tricky for me - based on my income now, my hourly rate on the equation above for the challenge is £156.....

However, taking myself back 3 years, if I had done the same equation back then, I reckon that by now, I would be looking at having achieved the target set at that time (if that makes sense).

So, I suppose what I am saying is that although it is easy to say it can't be possible, of course it is - I made changes in my working life (big changes, granted) and increased my income several fold......

The question is, can I increase it again by as much from a much much higher base.....?

i'm tryiing to figure how this might work with a part-time worker/student. Do i base it on what i want to earn or what i'm earning at the mo? (currently zilch cos my temp contract was terminated and i've not found anything else yet).

@Memorygirl Do you know what you'll be working at to earn this money?

i used to work as a speaker/trainer so i'm hoping to go back into that business - although i've beentalking to someone who has already completed this programme in the us. he now buys old cars on ebay, breaks them for scrap and sells the parts on ebay. he is making his $5k per week target after 170 days.

I'm a new suscriber so I'm not fully up to date here but you need to be self employed so that work fits around the children right? Wondering if this job involves the books that already exist/writing new ones or if Mr Big is sending you out to look for a job?

think that self-employed will have to be the way - can't see many jobs that would pay me my target, although i could see that it could be made working full-time with a part-time something self-employed iyswim?

The hourly figures work out pretty high so I'm having trouble getting my head around how a brand new business could make that much money so quickly?

i can't wait to find out - mind you i'm aiming for £88 per hour and today i earn £3.95 per hour on benefit with no tax credits - so theres a pretty big jump to get my head around.

Today sounds like one of those you'll remember forever too:)

  • Had to laugh at Mr.B's newest challenge, heck i am living the life already as a teacher...pegs it quick :P:rotfl::rotfl:

Except i am working on the 8 weeks off over summer:D :rotfl:

That personal minimum bit i worked out ages ago, as i have always had a minimum figure to work on- but with youngest going to Uni, and Mr.B being well Mr.B ( my Mr.B although i do wish he was Mr.Big at times:eek:) I have to figure other things into the equation..off to ponder that one.
