Good evening Memorygirl, good evening all,

    several things, really.

    1) MG, going with the flow is one of the laws of the Universe - the Law of Rhythm which says that the Universe and everything in it have a rhythm; when we learn to hear and follow it things come easy and are fun.
    2) My verdict on the book. I have to examine a PhD thesis next week and the preparation for this kind of thing normally takes 3-4 days (including thinking time, of course). Using the techniques suggested in MG's book I am finished in 6 hours and 27 minutes. There is a bit more to do but it should take no more than an hour or so. Thus it is a big, fat thimbs up from me - tried and tested.
    3) It is confirmed - I am a newfound baking Godess (with some help from my friends) but making ciabatta bread is not my strongest point. I am sure it is something silly I do (or don't) but it sticks to the baking paper. Help!
    4) Tomorrow I am out - have to get on a plane at 6.40 am and will be back past 9 pm. I can try and borrow a computer to see what you are all up to from someone at this gathering but suspect they are never going to forgive me. But I'll be back!

Look after yourselves and the Universe be with you.

    Firewalker

thanks for the testimonial firewalker - and thanks to the universe for giving you back all thattime to do with as you wish.

As for the sticking bread - the secret is

taaaaadaaaaaaaaaaaa ............. silicon paper:D:D. nothing - and i mean nothing sticks to that. swear by it myself;)

    mg

ps see you when you get back

No because it was a lesson in a workshop but basically (don't think I'm breaking copyright because the teacher told us she found it somewhere on the internet that was open to everyone but I can't remember what) you do the following:
cast on an even number of stitches using the cable method, we did 10 for the bead but the skies the limit.
Then you k 1 sl 1 all along the row,
repeat this row until you have the required length. We did 12 rows for the size bead we were doing.

Then the really fun bit instead of casting off you leave a long end and thread a wool needle with it.
You then slip the first stitch on to the needle and hold it to the back of the work.
Then slip the next stitch on to another pin and hold to the front of the work.
You repeat this all along your knitted piece and if you have k1 sl1 correctly you will find you have a 'bag.'
You then thread the remaining stitches off the pin onto the wool needle and pull the thread through and after stuffing you pull up thread tight and secure.

The tutor left a length of wool about 30cms and stuffed the bead with that but the wool we used was expensive so I only used enough to thread through and secure. I stuffed the ball with other scraps I had.

If my instructions are not very clear let me know and I'll send you the ones we had.

Oh i am so going to give that a try
