Only kidding
Do you know what country he's on the road in? The time difference (if you know where he is) might enable you to have few [STRIKE]hours[/STRIKE] minutes relaxation......
Just a thought....
I thin it was the energy and collective spirit of the thread group that hooked him in .................. so if i bottle it .............. someone else gets to pick up the baton and push on.
not that i'm going to (in a purely non-slefish way you understand:cool:)

I too have been lurking for a while and trying to catch up with all that is going on- MG you are truly an inspiration. I try to live my life in the moment, to let everything flow and just enjoy the simple things.. I have been on my own with my daughter since I was pregnant(she is 8) and trying to be two parents hasn't always been easy- sometimes I just feel it would be nice to have someone to bounce ideas off( although my parents are fantastic). And yet I am more content with my life than I have ever been- today we went for a bike ride and collected conkers, leaves to spray for Christmas(eek!) and blackberries for jam making. Finally got my act together and posted loads of stuff for sale on ebay-need the money to pay the gas bill due this month-and bagged marked down turkey mince on the way home from our bike ride and made a ton of chilli to freeze.
What I find hardest is holding on to the " vision" or keeping the faith. I know what is important to me and it isn't great wealth or status, just for my girl and my family to be healthy and happy and safe. I still go all gooey when the Boden catalogue plops on the doormat-from the days when I had more cash to splash- but know that the cardigan I WANT won't make the slightest bit of difference to my life and the urge goes away. A friend of mine once said that it is much easier to hold on to our beliefs when we are surrounded by like minded people;well, I know that my beliefs sometimes slip because I seem to be surrounded by people who are a little materialistic.
Sorry for wittering on but what I am really trying to say-in a really awful roundabout way!-is THANKYOU MG and all you others because I feel that I have found some like minded people and holding on to what I know is right will be an awful lot easier from now on. So thankyou again, a million times over xx:)DMP Mutual Support Thread member no.2490 -

No because it was a lesson in a workshop but basically (don't think I'm breaking copyright because the teacher told us she found it somewhere on the internet that was open to everyone but I can't remember what) you do the following:
cast on an even number of stitches using the cable method, we did 10 for the bead but the skies the limit.
Then you k 1 sl 1 all along the row,
repeat this row until you have the required length. We did 12 rows for the size bead we were doing.
Then the really fun bit instead of casting off you leave a long end and thread a wool needle with it.
You then slip the first stitch on to the needle and hold it to the back of the work.
Then slip the next stitch on to another pin and hold to the front of the work.
You repeat this all along your knitted piece and if you have k1 sl1 correctly you will find you have a 'bag.'
You then thread the remaining stitches off the pin onto the wool needle and pull the thread through and after stuffing you pull up thread tight and secure.
The tutor left a length of wool about 30cms and stuffed the bead with that but the wool we used was expensive so I only used enough to thread through and secure. I stuffed the ball with other scraps I had.
If my instructions are not very clear let me know and I'll send you the ones we had.0 -
