    Hi all,

I checked out the poll, and I don't fit. I don't go through the bins, and my local Tesco's dosn't have hedges, but I do pick them up from the ground and from trolleys. In fact I activley look for them and will quite hapily pick them up. I look at it as an opportunity to get my 15 mins daily walk in and be productive at the same time. Not to say that i'll do this every day but when I go to Tesco's I have a good walk around the carpark.

As for employing a womble, I have two, aged 9 and 11, I was going shopping with the kids one day and picked up a recipt and the kids asked why. I explained how it all worked and that the voucher was worth up to about £2.00, next thing I know they have gathered up about £10.00 worth plus a bunch of money off vouchers including 5p of per litre of fuel (worth about £2.00), so all told that day saved me about £14. To make £14 in my business I would need a turnover of about £60 or more which may be 2 or 3 hours work, so that day I saved 3 hours work by going shopping. Anyway the kids go shopping with me quite often now :D

    Bye for now

I womble, in fact I found a receipt today for 28 points. Last week I found one for 98 points - thats worth almost £4 in deals and I would have had to spend £98 of my own money to make that, so why not?!

I think it is wrong but kind of strange also and bordering on the obsessive a little like a homeless person picking up peoples discarded Gherkins outside MacDonalds.... uurrgghh!

Is there any way that this is illegal or against the T+C's of clubcard? I can't think of any law that prevents me from claiming discarded, unwanted 'money', but maybe there is a T+C.

Where some people wonder about the people who pick them up, I wonder about people who throw them away!?

I have to ask Tescos to put a lot of receipts through as manual adjustments as, no matter what I say, my OH will not use the clubcard. I've tried logic and reason, begging and pleading... haven't tried crying yet! I've never had a letter about it.

So, seeing as I'm getting them to add points so often anyway, I do keep an eye out for discarded receipts in my basket or when I'm packing my bags. I wouldn't go through bins for them though!

I too have trained wombles age 6 and 9 who find discarded receipts everywhere.Ever since I explained the link between thrown away receipts and airmiles they are always on the lookout, and they're really good at it!

  • Below are the results to our previous poll. Thanks to the 2177 participants who took part in this poll.

Previous Poll Topic: Poll Started 14 Aug 2006. Would you womble? It seems some search outside supermarkets for others’ receipts, and then, if they were paid in cash and the loyalty points weren’t claimed, take them to customer services and claim them for themselves. Ignoring the potential legal issues - in terms of attitude, which womble are you nearest?

    d. Big person. Not a chance, never 54.8% - (1195 Votes)
    c. Uncle Bulgaria. I wouldn't search, but may do it if I happened on a receipt 33.4% - (729 Votes)
    b. Tomsk. I'd occasionally peek, but not often 6.1% - (134 Votes)
    a. Orinocho. I'd happily hunt through bins and hedges 5.2% - (115 Votes)

    Total Votes: 2177
