Hi.
Soon to be claiming housing benefit, but would like to work part time. Does anyone know the limit you can earn before it affects your housing benefit..?. I think the max hours are under 16 per week but not sure of the upper earnings amount.

If you are a single person over the age of 25 your applicable amount would be £65.45 per week.
If your weekly income is above that amount you start to lose housing benefit at the rate of 65p in the pound for every pound that you are over your applicable amount.
this amount is deducted from your eligible rent to give you your new hb award.
bear in in you also get an earnings disregard if you are in work in the calculation of your hb0 -
So i can earn upto £65 a week before it affects me..? I will also have a 9 year old living with me. Does that make a difference..?.

Are you claiming JSA? What income do you have at the moment?"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

I will be claiming JSA yes, Child tax credits for one child and child benefit too.
If you work your JSA will be reduced £ for £ on whatever you earn other than the first £5 per week. This will obviously affect any HB as well.
Use the entitled to calculator to work out different options.
