What size bottle of gin per half pound of raspberries. Am guessing this would work with vodka too.

    Have made cherry flavoured vodka.

Got a 75cl bottle of tesco's own, costing £3.50 and a packet of cherry drops.took about two measures of vodka out *hic* and crushed up half a packet of cherry drop sweets.

I make damson gin each year - put a hole in the damsons a couple of times each - I use a fine cable needle. Put into a jar and nearly fill with the fruit. Pour in sugar to about 1/3 up the jar with the fruit in and top up with value gin. It needs a good shake every couple of days for the first 2-3 weeks. Bottle in Nov/ Dec.

This year I also have cherry brandy, apricot brandy and gooseberry gin (!) on the go - just waiting for the damsons now.

Edited as it wouldn't let me use the word meaning to make a hole in !!!!!!!

Same way - I punched the cherries with the needle, filled a jar with them, added the sugar and topped up with value brandy. This is the first year I've tried it, but the cherries are losing their colour to the brandy, so I guess it must be working.

Cherry brandy question : I found a recipe on the net & have followed it, I have !!!!!ed the cherries & left in a jar for 3-4 hours coated with sugar & periodically shaken, now topped up with brandy. Thing is the jar is only about 2/3 full, it is one of those air tight jars with a rubber ring & metal clasp thingy, will the gap be a problem or not?

Also where do I store it for the next 3 months? In the dark, warm, cool, light???

    Thanks;)
