Question about O2 simplicity

Perhaps they've changed the way they deal with interal number ports at O2 since last July then (the last time I needed to use the porting service)

I can only give my personal experience on the three times I've ported a number within O2, and that may not necessarily reflect the experience someone may have if they port a number today.

The OP was on a contract, moving to a simplicity contract.. so, what I put was right...?

Nope,they get a new SIM.
I've sold a couple to people coming off contract.

I'm 99.9% sure that they don't get a new sim card, but if you say so..

They're not "coming off" contract, it's still a contract customer regardless.

the pay and go ones dont, they start cpp this dates back to bt cellnet

the online postpay ones start gen this dates back to genie mobile

the store originated postpay ones start cbt this dates back to bt cellnet

i can tell you the pac prefix of any network and its origins as it is what i do for a living
