erm I went to QS and bought a pk of 7 cheap cotton knickers so I could just chuck them after wearing....nuff said I think!
Oh and a thermos flask of ice cubes ( not that you could pack it now obviously!) but then I had both my babies in July!!:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0 -
Toothbrush and toothpaste? No room for sensible stuff like that. More jaffa cakes are needed.....

More clothes.
Esp. Trousers - take black ones.
You bleed more than you think and if you stay in hospital then you will not want to stay in your nightie all day.
Do you need a baby blanket?? Hospitals tend to provide baby bedding - but I would recommend sick blankets! I use Tesco Value towels - they lie under baby when BF (cos it goes EVERYWHERE and is sticky....) and over the shoulder when burping. Also very useful for mopping up quickly when baby sick surprises you. Trust me on this - had four and sick blankets can help you NOT getting changed every half hour!0 -

I think that's for taking the baby home in rather than for use in hospitalDEBT FREE 23/FEB/07 TWO YEAR's!! £2 £1020.00 Banked New total £268+ and counting SAVINGS 3000.00- ISA £30. :j0 -
Toothbrush/toothpaste/towel - how could I forget those?! See, I knew it was worth asking people on here to check my list! I've added them on to my original list, thanks.
I'm going to breast feed, so yes, I'd better chuck a few breast pads in, just in case of leakages. I haven't got a nursing bra....is that bad? I just can't cope without underwire (!), and didn't have any problems last time with blocked ducts etc so I'm just going to see how it goes this time."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Have to say I agree far too much pressure on people to do the "right" thing these days----huge big lists of does and donts. What I did,was ignore all of them:D
Not having a baby (done my bit for mother nature) but just looked at this thread coz anything babywise will still turn my head!! I hope I can still be included on this thread!
Have to say though I kind of agree with the folic acid thing - I didnt take it with either of mine (wasnt the *advice* with No1 and found out too late/never advised to with No2).
DD2 was born with a congenital birth defect and on a support group that I belong to I have heard (seen) a Dr say that it ok to advise taking folic acid as they are aware due to studies that it can decrease the chances of problems such as spina bifida HOWEVER what they dont know if what it may or may not cause!!!
A good point I thought!
Just my two 'penneth!!

This was one of the reason's I had a home birth cause then I didn't have to get a bag ready.... saying that I did start to pack one while I was in labour incase I needed to go in (didn't finish packing it though)DEBT FREE 23/FEB/07 TWO YEAR's!! £2 £1020.00 Banked New total £268+ and counting SAVINGS 3000.00- ISA £30. :j0

Sick blankets - good idea, thanks Charlotte
Kelinik - Yep, going to take cheap knickers and just chuck them afterwards - I just can't bring myself to wear paper ones lol!
Jet - yes, the blanket is for bringing the baby home in - hopefully the good old NHS will provide bedding....although you can never be sure these days
tigtag - of course you can join in! I took folic acid but threw most of it up, so I doubt if the baby got any benefit from it at all. I've tried not to worry too much about all the different 'rules' and just listened to what me head and heart were telling me. All you can do is try your best at the end of the day, and things can still go wrong even if you follow everything to the letter. Hope your daughter is doing okay."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

To be honest Snaggles there is a lot to be said for *mum knows best* and I'm a great believer in it (including proving FOUR Dr's wrong a couple of years ago with DD)
DD is very thankyou - fortunately she was *fixable*and other than an extra tenacity gene is no different from DD1
She likes to put us through the mill though (talk about chalk and cheese) - she's not 5 yet and managed to chalk up 3 ops (1st at 2hrs old), a broken leg and various a&e visits the last one being on Mothers Day when she fell down a whole flight of steps
Kids huh - we must be mad :rotfl::heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0
