Probably WAY too much information, but I am really uncomfortable today, my bum hurts....well, that bit at the very bottom of your back, where your coccyx (sp?) is, and my bump feels very hard and 'full'. Only 3 more weeks at work, and then I can relax a bit.....yippeee!!

    Hi Snuggles
Sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable, the pain you are getting is probably due to your body releasing a hormone which softens up the ligaments ready for birth that is why women get SPD and this coccyx pain you are getting. The coccyx actually moves out of the way during the birth. Just look forward to your time off, that sounds bliss!!!!

BTW Kath - really pleased to hear you are going to do Midwifery

  • Hi Snuggles, just caught up with your thread from the beginning and i'm loving it :) a DFW bubba - how sweet!

Sorry to hear you're in pain today, it'll probably just be your body getting ready for the birth plus all the extra strain and weight doesn't help (((hugs))) I had SPD when i was pg with DD so i can relate to pregnancy pain!

This thread is making me feeling really broody now! We're not starting ttc until after Xmas but my sis-in-law is due next month and it seems like theres loads of mums at the school gates with bumps and new bundles! I'm jealous lol!

Take care, looking forward to reading more of your posts

I'm glad you've made the decision to apply for the midwifery course - I would have you as my midwife in a second!

When do you go to America? Can I come hehehe?!

I leave on 16th June, can't come quickly enough as far as I'm concerned at the moment! You're welcome to come, with a tiny baby too, should be fun - you think you can squeeze in my suitcase?! :rotfl:

Thanks themaccas - yes, I'm having quite a bit of SPD pain, but it's been mostly either in my 'nether regions' (lol) or higher up, in the middle of my hips at the back. The 'achy bum' pain is a new one on me! I feel an excuse to laze around on the sofa all evening coming on. :D Your debt totals are really coming down, that's brilliant - have you entered Martins debt-dieter competition?

It's amazing how many people have suffered SPD - I had it badly with DS, and at the time (6 years ago), no-one, even the doctors, really seemed to know what it was - at least this time round they are more aware of it and treat it more sympathetically. I had physiotherapy for it last time, and couldn't walk properly for more that 6 months after the birth, but I was never told exactly what it was.

Ooh how exciting Kate, knowing you are going to start trying for a baby after Xmas. I was a bit shell-shocked when I did the test and it was positive, but then it was a lovely feeling to walk round the supermarket that afternoon with hubby, knowing we had a little secret that only us two knew about! Good luck!

I reckon we could squeeze in the suitcase....I mean, how much space can a tiny baby need??? :o

Ohh....ohhhh.... where did this tiredness come from...... :(

Today I have watched hubby put together our new bedroom furniture (cheap from Ikea I promise :)), and watched him carry it around the house, and then sat here while he popped to the chinese for a couple of chow meins, and yet I'm the one feeling exhausted and he is absolutely fine!

    I feel like such a fraud :o

Not sure if any of the midwives are still around, but just hoping for some reassurance really - I mentioned before that I'm not really putting on weight (I know, I know, who would have thought I would ever be complaining about that!), but I'm starting to worry a bit.

I've still only put on 3 or 4 pounds and I'm 31 weeks pregnant. I've got quite a big bump, I'm eating okay and the baby seems fine, very active and wriggly, so I'm sure it must be okay, but is it normal not to really put weight on?

A friend of mine (who is slimmer than me normally) says she put on 2 and a half stone with her baby, which has got me a bit worried.

not a midwife - but perhaps *you* have lost a bit of weight while gaining the baby weight? I don't know if your activity levels have increased, or eating less and different things? If you're growing ok and the bump is big it should be fine. If your friend was slimmer she may have had to put on more weight to be healthy during pregnancy? I know that when someone is underweight they are meant to gain at least 0.5 stone more than usual.

I'm sure someone more knowledgable will come along soon!
